TRX-1 gearbox topshaft question
I've got about a couple of dozen machined gearbox top shafts for the TRX-1 which allowed the use of the RC10T slipper clutch. Did any other Traxxas vehicle share this gearbox or topshaft? Blue Eagle?

Re: TRX-1 gearbox topshaft question
As far as I recall, the top shaft was the same for all the Magnum transmissions. The only thing that has changed over all these years is that the newer stuff uses the Revo-style slipper clutch and the shaft is different in the slipper area to accept the newer slipper. Even the newer VXL top shaft will work in the TRX-1 trans once you install the correct top gear and Revo slipper assembly. Everything from the TRX-1, TRX-3, SRT, Blue Eagle, Hawk2/Rad2, and 1st gen Rustler/Bandit/Stampede all use the same top shaft.fredswain wrote:I've got about a couple of dozen machined gearbox top shafts for the TRX-1 which allowed the use of the RC10T slipper clutch. With that said, STRC makes a top shaft for the Traxxas trans that lets you use the newer style Associated slipper/spur assembly. Probably a better option than the older 10T slipper. And it will work in the TRX-1.

It might be a better option but I've got a couple dozen of them in a bin that I need to get rid of.

Re: TRX-1 gearbox topshaft question
harry697 nailed it. As far as vintageyness goes, a TRX rig with a 10T slipper would be pretty neat. Are these the Rayborn slipper components?
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Re: TRX-1 gearbox topshaft question
Yes . They use the early style slipper with the bearing but the later yellow slipper pad.
Using the same essential gearbox for basically 25 years now was smart of Traxxas. Once you get a gear design, there really shouldn't be any reason to change it or if you do change something, change only part of it.
