Shameless plug:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330560814701&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT
and only because I've listed it 3 times and no response. I've never used it so I don't really know how pink that pink is. I'm sure someone here knows.

Re: Who makes HOT PINK dye?
Litespeed made fluorescent dye for RC use back in the day—called Dylon. It was available in solid colors, as well as fluorescent pink, orange and yellow. When you see cars on eBay or here on the forums every once in a while with a day-glow look to the white nylon parts, that is what was used. It's usually pretty difficult to find, but it does turn up on eBay every once in a blue moon. I managed to grab a few packs of yellow and pink a few years ago at a LHS, and one or two packs off of eBay in many years of searching for it, so I know it does pop up.
It's good enough to keep in a glass jar when you are done using it, for future use, too.

Re: Who makes HOT PINK dye?
I wonder if the white "color enhancer" is just salt.
could it also be that litespeed just repackaged bulk quantities of powder into their own containers. the dylon name is the same as this stuff:

I saw that they had a new line by the manufacturer tulip at our local AC Moore crafts store. Tulip has a color that looks to be pretty "hot". - AND you won't have to wait for one to come up on ebay... Good luck.

RIT always works. Not sure if this one comes in a powder or not. Have never used RIT other than the powder but her you go.

Re: Who makes HOT PINK dye?
That's pretty interesting... in 25 years of buying that stuff, I have never seen neons on the shelf anywhere. Now the $18 question is, where can you get it? I don't think any of us need 1 lb. of it. LOL

Re: Who makes HOT PINK dye?
You might be able to get it from JoAnn Fabrics, Michaels, Hobby Lobby... Can't remember where I saw a big display of RIT with all the colors. Don't ask why I was in those stores.

Re: Who makes HOT PINK dye?
I go into those stores more than often because they are great sources for not only art supplies, but modeling and creative types. I have not ever seen neons on a Rit display ever, anywhere I have ever been. And that includes non-chain type art supply stores.
If anyone sees these actually on the shelf anywhere, throw a flag and let us know.

Maybe... a quick check and it looks like the 3 neon colors they offer (neon yellow, pink, and green) are in there professional line and only sold through RIT online.Eau Rouge wrote:I go into those stores more than often because they are great sources for not only art supplies, but modeling and creative types. I do know that Fuchisa and petal pink are in stores, just saw them at Krogers. They are close to hot pick.

Re: Who makes HOT PINK dye?
So the real question is, what entrepreneurial soul is going to buy a pound of yellow and pink powder and a case of tiny zip lock bags from U-line and sell the fluorescent dye in small amounts for a profit to us strange vintage RC collectors with lots of white nylon parts to dye?

Re: Who makes HOT PINK dye?
Rit dyes are not widely available over here in the UK - I've been buying it on Ebay from needlework suppliers.SMOKE-DOG wrote: Maybe... a quick check and it looks like the 3 neon colors they offer (neon yellow, pink, and green) are in there professional line and only sold through RIT online.

Rit Fuscia will definately give you a very bright 'hot' pink... but be warned (I learned the hard way) DO a couple of test runs with different mixes & keep an eye on the length of time your test peices are in for... for my Yokomo wheels I used what I now know was a rather 'strong' mix of dye/water, just 20sec would have probably given me the colour I needed, a further 20 seconds would have given me super bright pink.... I left them in even longer & got an almost red/magenta colour

Re: Who makes HOT PINK dye?
Hate to drag up an old thread, I needed to dye a part black the other day and was out of Rit Dye, no local shops have it, Well against what i wanted to do i went to Walmart and picked up some Tulip Dye, Well i could not get that dye to take to any nylon parts. Has anybody had any luck with the Tulip dye?
