2012 VONATS Build Help lol :)
Ok so seeing all the VONATS builds i want to start building for the 2012 race lol, Yeah it will take that long to build and learn how to race lol, I have never raced RC before but it looks like a blast.
I have a few questions before i start sourcing parts for a build, I know some features id like to incorporate into my build (Nothing new, Just stuff i have seen on other builds)
The basics of what id like to incorporate into my build
RC10 Alloy pan chassis
RC10T Front and rear shock tower (Long shocks up front is my main intention)
Threaded shocks (Not sure what sizes i will need yet)
Klein Front and Rear arms
Stealth Trans
B4 Front and rear wheels
Should i buy a doner RC10T or should i use the Red Car below? (The car below will have to have all the 10T front end parts, stealth trans and rear shock tower...) Is there a difference between the 10T and RC10 Stealth Trans? Money wise would it be cheaper to build from my red car or get a doner 10T???
Damn this picture sure makes this car look bad lol, better pic below

You're going to need a Truck nose piece. A new one on ebay might be 20 bucks. You're also going to need a truck or Worlds shock tower. The Stealth transmissions are the same. I would say its just a matter of how cheap you can find the parts. I picked up a used 10T for 35 bucks. If you could find a truck that cheap, you would be money ahead and have some good left over parts on hand. Just my 2 cents.

That is a nice looking RC-10, I would get a donor RC10T and keep the red one whole, but that is up to you. I have put a bunch of laps on my VONATS old is new RC-10, and might even enter the JConcepts Fall nationals with it in October at R/C Excitement Fitchburg, very solid car.

Thanks guys, I think i will look out for a 10T to convert.
I read somewhere there are two different stealth transmissions, like different gear ratios, is this true and what is the difference and what cars did they come in.
I like the red RC10 especially with the body, just have to add a battery cup and maybe some fiber lyte shock towers...

The RC10T comes with the 2:25 stealth, but you can buy a RPM conversion to get a 2:65 ratio. It would take some effort to get the B2,B3(2:40) and B4(2:60) transmission, but it can be done. The 2:25 stealth can take the B4 slipper, which is better to use with hot brushless motors, but the stock slipper works fine with the stock motors for the VONATS.

Thanks, ill try and get a 10T with a 2.25, I did a B4 slipper swap in an old DS i had, I like being able to use current parts when possible lol

Ok well the base has been sourced, I have a question about the Klein front arms. I see people using them on the 10T and RC10 front skid plate, i thought the plates were different widths? If that is the case what track will i have using the 10t skid with the Klein arms.

Re: 2012 VONATS Build Help lol :)
who used the klein arms with a buggy nose? that would be awfully wide.
they are copies of the rpm worlds arms, which were designed to be used on the truck nose with the truck bulkhead.

Yeah, its a nice car, just really want to build something lol, All i plan on doing with the flag car (red car) is adding a battery box, battery hold down and replace the HT towers with fiber lyte unitslosiXXXman wrote:Glad to see you decided to save the Red Build...Wasn't that Flipwils Car? Did you paint this?! I just saw this! I don't normally go for the deep graphic crap, but that's the $hit!! That belongs in my WILDLY popular "When does lexan become art?" thread! Seriously, that depth of field is crazy!
