Sassy Chassis with Track Master Transmission?

Post by limestang »

Hi, this is my first post to RC10Talk. I have recently acquired a Trackmaster transmission, and wanted to mount it to an RC10 chassis. The original style chassis has an interference issue. The transmission is pretty long and hits that chassis as it curves up. I then tried a Sassy Chassis, and noticed the A-Arm mounting holes are at a different angle than the Team Associated chassis, so the holes don't line up with the transmission. I am contemplating making adapter brackets, but was wondering why the difference on the Sassy Chassis. Any recommendations on a suitable chassis for this project?

Thanks Limestang

the sassy was designed with toe in built into the chassis.

I think a graphite chassis would work for you since it's flat.

I would think you could use a graphite chassis from Dave (DW911) if he has any left, Example below

Thanks all for the information. That makes sense about the built in toe-in.

I used some aluminum angle from tower to mount one in a sassy chassis just so I didnt have to cut the oringal ones. I soon gave up on the sassy project when trying to mount the A&L swing arm kit, the rear tow is whey off. I think the sassy has a 3 degree rear tow in the rear . Graphite chassis is your best bet unless you want to cut a tub. No don't see many RC10's with a trackmaster in them . I think it is more of a dirt oval trans .

You could also make a new set of tranny mounting brackets from aluminum angle and drill them to fit the holes in the Sassy chassis.

Great idea to fab some aluminum adapters - I will give it a try. Thanks all for the help.

I was living and racing in Chicago when the maker of Sassy chassis came in and wanted me to buy some for the shop. I literally told him they would never fly. Now whenever they come up it's like a bad dream for me ......

Maybe I'm behind the power curve here, but I had no problem bolting up the Track Master to this Sassy...
