Old is New..HELP!! rear wheels.

Post by delsami »

i have the b44 cva"s and b4 hub carrier rear end on my gold tub racer. i run b4 wheels. PROBLEM: width of the rear is narrow!!

has anyone figured out how to run b4 wheels(b4 hex wheels would be even better) and have i wide rear track??

i am leaning toward just converting it back to run b3 wheels or thunder tiger  ...i qual 3rd with the car but i'd like to get the car more forgiving.

got pix? What width do you have?

Todd

p.s. Run b3 wheels if you have access to them. Only reason I'm not is because I'm gonna start racing again when funds permit and will be sharing wheels/tires with my rc10,b4 and b44(rears) to save on how many sets I'll have to have.

Here is a link that should get you started. http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=20904 (hpi 5 spoke rims)
There are a couple other threads about using modern wheels that have some good info. Someone even tried the SC10 hex conversion.

If you wish to run b4 rear hubs with b4 CVD/CVA's you need to clearance out the inboard bearing approximately 1/8" otherwise the hub will bind because the b4 (B44) shaft is too long. Also, use a countersink afterwards since the curvature of the joint will want to go deeper into the hub that now has a deeper inboard bearing location.

I just did this on mine.

Not sure how it works without the Klien arms, but I am running b44 CVD with RPM RC10gt hub and custom works spacers.

you are supposed to use rear b44 cva's. the fronts are too long.

yeah, i'm pretty sure that's a typo. the fronts are a bunch longer, they'd never work.

get the c.w. .125 wheel spacers and some low profile 8-32 locknuts. it'll help out a little bit.

i'm kind thinking that in order to run this thing and have it feel&look "RIGHT" it might just need some b3 wheels/susp put back on..

i have only run a few laps similar to my b4. but those few laps were so cool that i'd like to string them together. gold tub car needs some love to get consistent tho

Mine is not much wider than yours and it runs good.

You can see mine compared to a B4.
