I'm glad you got that chassis. I almost pulled the trigger on that BIN but could'nt justify it. I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Me, too! It is a beauty but I would rather see someone else
break the bank getting parts worthy of it.

I was going to buy it but was just short the asking price. :( I was relieved though when I found out someone here got it. :)

Well this isn't the one that sold on Ebay. I almost purchased that one myself but was too slow. I contacted the guy and asked if he had more or was going to do anymore like the one that sold. We talked for about 2 hours on the phone and worked out a deal for him to do some parts for me. These are my parts I sent him to have them done. He's been hand polishing this chassis for 3 weeks on and off. The chassis has a mirror finish before it goes in the tank and he has to dip it very quickly because alumnium will start oxidizing almost instantly when bare. That affects the final finish. HE DOES IT IN HIS GARAGE! The color and look of the finished chassis is a combination of the finish of the chassis polished, then gold dye color and then the anodize process on top of that. I don't have the parts in hand yet but I'm hoping soon.
The chassis looks like it's 24K gold.

I think we deserve to see a 24k gold chassis. That chassis just wont due, might as well send it to me for a runner, lol.

Well if it wasn't you that got the one from eBay, maybe it was someone else here. I remember there was a thread on it but can't be bothered to look.

Three weeks polishing on and off is a vague statement. He could have spent 5 minutes every few days doing it. I've had a DS project in the works for like a decade now in which I polished the chassis. It came out incredible and I don't remember it taking more than a day or two.

It was in the ebay forum, but timed out. I was bored at work and looked for it earlier. :P

Regardless of the method it is a beautiful and unique look. It's also nice to know that it at least wasn't a one time deal. :D
