New protech body:differences from original?
I just got my bodies in today. did the original ones have the part number molded in the rear?
Now it has cd8321 on the right rear side. The trim line is very distinct which I do not recall, although it has been about 2 years since I had an uncut protech.
Does any one have uncut examples of an old and new one to compare side by side?

yes, i think there are differences, me and my friend have just been trimming ours that we got yesterday. hes got an original in the bag and he commented straight away. i think the detailing for the window meshing is lsightly different. the lexan is definately thicker.

Re: New protech body:differences from original?
This was my post in the other thread.... I don't have an original protech here at the apartment.
"I just received my 5 protechs in the mail. Chinese or not, I must say I am impressed with the quality. The lexan seems to be a bit thicker and each of the mold lines are about 3 times more pronounced than the originals. There is a noticable difference between the originals (US made) and the new verisons (Chinese made). Thank god my biggest fear was not realized.... they did not use PETG type lexan.
I like them!!!!"

It is a type of polycarbonate, an alternate to the typical lexan we are used to seeing. Early Traxxas products which deformed beyond all hell, used PETG.

here is a comparison of the windows. The new one is a perfect grid, the old a bit wavy and more realistic looking.

Funny you should say that. . . . I think they will figure it out pretty quick.mrlexan wrote:Someone listed one on the bay. I bet there will be a run on them til everyone figures it out.
Take a look at the protech I just listed using the above pic. Sure to piss a few sellers off.

I like aconsola's way of listing that body. It is informative, so someone who wasnt aware there were new bodies is now informed.
I like that style of listing!!

Excellent information! The Viper bodies seem to be identical except for the lines being crisper. I haven't taken a real in-depth look at them yet side by side.

Yeah! My favorite part is that after months and months of waiting for RC10 bodies, we in the know can empty retail inventories and flip them on ebay for a nice profit. This hobby is so much fun.danglenode wrote:I like aconsola's way of listing that body. It is informative, so someone who wasnt aware there were new bodies is now informed.

I'm not sure if that is a serious or sarcastic remark, Maybe I'm reading too much into it and feeling a little guilty for flipping one after the long waitMelvinsArmy wrote: Yeah! I guess the description of the item has gotten the word out a bit. It has no bids and only 1 watcher thus far despite the BIN being less than what recent auctions have ended at, and the starting price being much less than what the other listed ones are currently bid to.
