TRX1 "Worlds"?

Post by GoMachV »

Anyone got any idea how common this kit was? I don't recall a worlds edition, the TRX1 I remember had blue shocks

I just picked this one up from my old boss of a hobby store that closed many years ago. I remember it sitting on the shelf forever. Nice to have her in good hands now 8)

That's interesting that your kit had assembled wheels and tires, and a built diff. I ordered mine from a hobby store not too long after they were released, and it was a 'worlds' version. I tend to think only the very early kits did not have the worlds label, and no hard anodized shocks. After they had some success they probably tweaked the kit to include the hard shocks, etc.

it would be cool to see a trx1 if anyone had one that didn't have the 'worlds' label to see what the kit differences were.

I could swear my first one had blue shocks, but it has been many years. Looking at pics it appears most are worlds kits.

Yes this is true; most of the kits are all world’s cars. The NIB kit I purchased earlier this year was a world’s car as well. I do remember the first TRX-1 had blue shocks on all four corners. You can see pictures of the early TRX-1 here,

IIRC, the only real difference between the original TRX-1 and the Worlds version is the shock bodies. Maybe the front tires were different too, but I'm pretty sure every TRX-1 had graphite towers so I don't really know why they put that on the Worlds sticker.

All the ball diffs were prebuilt that I know of also. My Blue Eagle came with a pre-assembled diff back in the day. Not sure why, but I do recall the screws being extremely difficult to remove. Like somebody installed them with a 1/2" impact gun.

I had a Worlds kit from bitd and my kit came with the stock traxxas tires and wheels and also Pro-Line tires. A friend of mine bought one at the same time as me and same place, his only had Pro-Line tires. Only reason I remember this.

I do know I loved that car! One of my most favorite buggies all time.
