Only got $20 in my pocket...
Today my wife was selling her handmade jewelry at a car show/street fair up in Longview, WA, so I went along to help her set up, and, you know, ogle cars and girls. I had about an hour to kill, and I noticed that basically two whole blocks of the street were thrift stores and pawn shops. I can't resist a good thrift store, so I took off down the street.
Imagine my delight when I found these two boxes in the fifth or sixth store I stuck my head in:
I didn't imagine they actually contained those kits, but I figured they'd hold some cool stuff inside. And I was right. Inside Box #1, we have all the fiberglass pieces from the 12LW, most of the chassis parts for the 10L (minus the motor mount; why are they always missing the motor mount?), some other graphite bits, and another 10L aftermarket chassis. Any ID help would be appreciated:
And Box #2 contained RC10 parts. Namely, a dirty but decent set of wheels and tires, a complete new-in-package RPM rear end kit, and what looks to be a compelete RPM Worlds front end kit.
Best part? $20 for everything. I love thrift shops.

Great finds, you don't find anything like that for $20, good eye! The 10T nose plate, with minty white front bulk head will sell for more than what you paid!!

Re: Only got $20 in my pocket...
Since moving to this little seaside country town about a year ago, I have not seen one vintage / old RC vehicle worth picking up. This includes garage (lawn) sales, thrift / junk / charity shops, markets, and even a couple of huge swap meets. I've come to the conclusion that this area did not have an RC presence (good hobby shop, track, club etc.) back in the day, so no kids grew up with SRBs, Foxes, RC10s or the like. I guess you take the good with the bad.....

That's why I like seeing the great finds you guys get, even if I am more than a little envious..... so, great pickup markbt73, especially for $20!!!!Alex

Re: Only got $20 in my pocket...
Thanks guys. I think it's more persistence than anything; I went through 5 stores before getting to this one (and almost dropped $10 on a couple of cool old MPC static model kits before I got there; glad I didn't!).
A couple of people have expressed some interest in the Worlds parts, but I'm torn: on the one hand, I can always use a little extra cash for projects, but on the other hand, I have a beat-up tub and Stealth tranny sitting there, and this would be an interesting project... but then again, if I open up NIP parts to build a car, I'll want to see how it handles, and then you guys will come after me with torches and pitchforks for "ruining" new parts... crap, what to do...

Get that tub cut and cleaned up, I've got a batch of anno going in TOMORROW!
You should enjoy it and build it. I know I know....but your not gonna find another one for $20 any time soon

Re: Only got $20 in my pocket...
No way I can get the tub ready by tomorrow. This will be a wintertime project, when I can sit and take my time and do it right.
But I think I'm going to keep it. Sorry to those who wanted me to sell, but I didn't get into this hobby to trade commodities. It's the makings of an awesome and unique toy car that I've never had before, so I'm going to play with it.
