Jamin's RC Display Case!

Post by jamin »

This was actually my wife's idea (so big credit to her) and I managed to 'happen' upon one of these and picked it up last night. 4 hour drive - round trip and it took me and my dad over an hour to find a way to fit it in the car! I nearly gave up twice but in the end it worked out 8)

Anyway, this is going in the house somewhere (i've got the perfect place but need to work on the wife) but for now its in the garage whilst I clean it up. Should look awesome once I add all my builds in there, enough for 5 cars, one on each shelf, but I reckon i might be able to squeeze 2 buggies on a shelf. Having said that the size fits the trucks perfectly!

Super happy to have what I think is an awesome display case!

Awesome, the size is perfect, and you gotta love that movie-star-style lighting!

You gotta do something about that name, though. Oakley's gotta go. :P

I'm sure that top panel just pops out. And any sign shop worth its salt can make a new backlit panel to fit in there.

Nice find!

No way - it's staying as a Oakley display case, that's the whole point! I love Oakley stuff, been a big fan for years. Each to their own I suppose :|

Awesome case but I agree, ditch the Oakley stuff and put in a new sign/marquee.

How much did you pay? I see the four lights on the top, are there more on the bottom or just white to reflect?

I paid a lot less than that but mine is not new and it has a few small marks on it. Good enough though, and they are pretty rare over here in the UK.

Four lights up top and 2 fluo strips under some opaque white sheet at the bottom.

That is great Ben - i've been trying to find something similar that is suitable to display my prides & joy, but trying to convince the 'better' half is going to prove harder!

Your cars are going to look great together in the cabinet, especially as your collection follows a continuous theme & most are finished off with shells with your own matching 'team' paint schemes 8)

I think the fact that it is an Oakley cabinet adds to the cool factor - I remember Oakley sunglasses being the 'big' thing for RC racers during the 90s with Oakley sponsoring the likes of Brian Kinwald & I think Cliff Lett... Ben you've also got to get a pair of old-skool 'M' Frames in there!
