Rough day at the track!

Anybody else ever go to play and find it's just one of those days?

I took 4 kits, and I broke:

-Front knuckle on the OFNA Ultra LX Comp in the first tank of fuel

-Rear arm mount on the 10T after about a half hour

-Ripped the spider gears out of the front diff on the MGT 3.0 on the third tank

-Prolite had it the worst, breaking the motor mount, rear shock tower, rear body mount and front bumper support before I got through the first pack.

Now, this is a particularly rough track with big jumps, so I expect to break things up there, but usually not every one of them! Especially that OFNA buggy. It wasn't just me, either; seems like everyone there who had something with a decent amount of power was spending more time changing parts than driving.

I know it's the nature of the beast, but it's kinda frustrating when you break everything, especially if you don't have those particular spares with you.

10T's with the 1.5* blocks love to loosen up and then break on impact (always the right one too LOL) at the rear screw- so at least that's normal

Yeah, not a first there. The GTs like to do that, too, although the later blue tub style mounts with the little ear that catches the end of the battery plate screw don't seem to have as much of an issue.

I loctite the dang things, but it seems to make little difference. I think it's time to mill some from 7075-T6 and leave a taper in the last 2 or 2 threads.

I was honestly surprised to find the MMGT only has two spider gears, but I ordered 2 pairs of replacements, so we'll see if I can notch shafts and put two more in there. The little truck could stand to have a lot more front end traction, and I think 4 spider gears + 60K oil would be just the ticket! I like the little beast (it's new to me as of Saturday), but on loose surfaces, I found the rear trying to outrun the front quite a bit. It's also a little tippy in the corners, so I'm gonna see about making some stabilizer bars for it. I know it's really just a basher anyway, but I see no reason it shouldn't be able to cope with a 1/8 scale type track pretty well if properly set up. I can't complain, though. I only gave $100 for it, and all it needed was a good cleaning, a front bumper and one shock. Didn't come with transmitter, either, but I really couldn't care less about not having a 27 MHz radio included, as I would have replaced it and given it away anyway.

I had an odd one yesterday. Turned up to my local track to race my Cougar SV2(ish) on greasy astro and found that for some random reason the ESC was had all the settings on the max. The setup box wouldn't work - it was really wierd, there was power going to it whether the switch was on or off, but it wouldn't let me adjust anything.

In the end I had to use the transmitter adjustments as best as I could, but it was so frustrating as the cars handling was definitely capable of an A-final place but was so damn tricky to stop it spinning up I had to settle for a B-final win.

The ESC is a Speed Passion Reventon R if anyone has any ideas...?

I had an odd one yesterday. Turned up to my local track to race my Cougar SV2(ish) on greasy astro and found that for some random reason the ESC was had all the settings on the max. The setup box wouldn't work - it was really wierd, there was power going to it whether the switch was on or off, but it wouldn't let me adjust anything.

In the end I had to use the transmitter adjustments as best as I could, but it was so frustrating as the cars handling was definitely capable of an A-final place but was so damn tricky to stop it spinning up I had to settle for a B-final win.

The ESC is a Speed Passion Reventon R if anyone has any ideas...?

No idea on your speedo i'm afraid - is it one you could plug into a PC & flash it with an update/reset?

P.S; where about do you race?.... In Kent I presume?

No idea on your speedo i'm afraid - is it one you could plug into a PC & flash it with an update/reset?

Yep, that's the next the ng to try. No idea if it will work as the pc connection is via the setup box. Worth a try though.

I race at Eden Park Raceway in Beckenham. Keep trying to find the time to give Maritime a go and also head over to Faversham in Surrey.
