Another Craigslist haul
Just got another big lot of RC10 stuff off Craigslist:
I'll be posting some more photos, but I think what I have here are 2 RC10Ts (or mongrels thereof), a B2 or B3, a Team car (also sort of a mongrel), most of another B2 or B3, most of an old Bolink Invader, some sort of later RC10L (or derivative). Not pictured are two Swiss-cheesed bare gold tubs and a T2 tub painted green, along with a big toolbox containing most of another 10T. All for $200.
Gonna have fun digging through all this tomorrow...

Re: Another Craigslist haul
I find it peculiar that someone would have enough of an interest in RC10's to accumulate that much stuff but at the same time butcher pretty much all of it.

Yeah, well... 20 year old kid in a Slipknot T-shirt... If I had to guess, I'd say his uncle (or someone) gave him these, and he took a lot of bad advice from some buddies who were into the whole "Beat Your Truck" scene, and what you see here is the result. There is a brushless motor in the toolbox I'll post a photo of later, that has its output shaft sheared off level with the can.GodSpeed wrote:I find it peculiar that someone would have enough of an interest in RC10's to accumulate that much stuff but at the same time butcher pretty much all of it.
On the plus side, most of it can be salvaged, especially with the re-re parts being available now. I think I can get 2 buggies, 2 trucks, one good B2 (or b3? I'll need help with that one), and maybe the T2 back to rolling. And old junky pan cars are always fun to mess around with.
It also included 3 buggy bodies that I have already thrown out (6-7 coats of paint on the outside) and 4 old 27mhz RTR-quality radios that will be hitting the trash soon.

Re: Another Craigslist haul
Started the process of tearing everything down. All of the tubs except one look useable, but all are pretty rough. (One of them even has a statement about the sexual predilections of someone named John scratched into the bottom. Whether it's meant to be defamatory or just a statement of fact, I can't say; I don't know John.)
This is why we can't have nice things. (Idler gears are interchangeable, right?)

That brushless looks like it was dunked into a lake (and left there for a while).
