Romulus22's '91 Steath

Post by romulus22 »

I'm still collecting parts, but I just put some color on it and felt like showing where its at so far. I gave it a Pavidis'esque paint job as he was one of my favorite racers in the day. It's far from perfect but the best I could do with rattle cans. Not going to be a replica car either just something to have. More to come as parts are gathered.

Looking marvellous, good call for not chasing a replica and making it your own! I love the shell BTW!

Was it cold when you painted the body? When it's cold out, Heat the can of paint up in a bowl of hot water before spraying. it will thin the paint out and gives you more pressure so it will give you more atomization for a finer fade and less of a splatter look. Unless that's what you were going for. I like the over all look of the car, Looks great

Yeah it's cold here. Definitely not going for a splatter look. I'm just not a good painter. I don't have the patience for painting that some do. I'm peeling and putting on different colors while the others are still wet. I just recently explored the world of multiple colors.

You're not giving yourself enough credit. From the pics it looks like you did a great jobs masking and the fade is not bad, It would have turned out a lot better if it was warm out. And yes, Patience is key to painting, Something I still struggle with myself

Looks good to me, and for a rattle can job it's superb!

Thanks guys. I added a few more decals and I'm happy with it now. A little more of a racer look to it now. Even though it has its flaws I'm surprised the paint turned out as well as it did. I've been putting it off for a couple weeks.

Proline RED tires are here, and I robbed some electronics from another car I didn't necessarily care if they were in. A few more parts before I tear it down and strip the blue off the hardware for final assembly.

I brought home some vinyl today to play around with. I know I'm not chasing a replica. But I'm having a toss up if this is too much red or not. I'm not as much of an expert as a lot of you but to my knowledge Mark Pavidis ran white wheels the majority of the time. But I'm also liking a little more color on the car. After all the 90's was a colorful decade. Any opinions on if I should go with red wheels or stick with white?

I like it. I suppose that's just my simple opinion, but it fits well with the paint.

Thanks guys. Once my wheels get here I will be able to get a better look. I'm just a less flash more fast type person so the plain white wheels are more my style. I'm just wanting the car to look like it came from the 90's. most if not all the parts to finish the car should be here by next week. Ill make a decision by then.

I made a mistake on a couple of my orders. Bought a pair of JRX2 rear wheels not RC10, purchased alloy steel screws not alum. I did manage to find a beat up graphite chassis trans brace. After a little restoration work it looks pretty good.
