#6474 spring cup, and clamp question
My question is did the original white spring cups, and clamps #6474 ever come in black. I know the B2/T2 are black with same part number, but are the updated part type.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm sure I've seen them, but faded memories tend to be unreliable.

Yes I remember them as well.

I believe they did as well.
I'm also pretty positive AE dyed some of their parts black.

For sure there were black ones but in black plastic, not dyed!

i didn't open this particular pack, but i have opened a set of these clamps and cups and other early parts that came in black. they are not dyed. the 'not for resale' stamp was from the factory when they sent parts to their sponsored drivers.

Re: #6474 spring cup, and clamp question
Not to derail my own thread, or to say anyone is wrong, the cup/clamps may never have been dyed, but I'm sure some other parts were. Here is a pic of a nip unopened set of #6365 rear hub carriers that I'm sure started out in life as white.
I had a hard time getting the light to work for this pic, but you can clearly see on the left carrier a purple area.

AE dying parts is news to me! Why would they bother? More likely someone swapped parts and lined back up the staple? I see this trick all the time at the hobby shop I work for. Criminal customers trying to return old or wrong product in new packages, they sometimes look just like that, unopened! ![Evil or Very Mad ](./images/smilies/icon_evil.gif)

Re: #6474 spring cup, and clamp question
I'm all too aware of that trick, when packs have been opened, then a staple ran back through, you would then need something like A small round tool to help bend the staple to copy an actual stapled, staple. Having said that, the tool would then leave some kind of scaring on the header card as the tool is removed, non of which are present. I'm very thorough we inspecting anything that goes into my collection. As for why it would be done, maybe during the parts colour transition, parts were dyed to match the currant catalogue demand, but who knows, like RJ sais earlier, I've seen it with other parts as well.slotcarrod wrote:AE dying parts is news to me!
