I won an ebay auction and picked up a B3 for $80 after shipping. I want to have a little fun with it. I would like to do lipo and brushless along with some bumpers and anything else it needs, and just beat on it and see how it does.
I heard thunder tiger stills has replacement parts available for repairs, so that's reassuring.
Are there any tips or important pros or cons on this car that I should know?
B4 shocks and top shaft / slipper assembly will work.
The slipper my be needed depending on how powerful motor you use.
Thunder tiger front arm hinge pins are a good upgrade if your not running any sort of front bumper.
No more loosing E-clips and front arms falling off.
B3's are great

It's only a bit jerky right off idle, at speeds next to zero. The rest is perfectly fine. There's a BIG misconception about sensored and sensorless systems. Years back, yeh, it probably was a difference, but not now. At any speeds on the track, the sensorless system works perfect. If you drove a crawler truck, then yeh, you'd have to so sensored for sure.
If it's made for 1/10 I doubt it's a 380, I think that was just an assumption on someones part.
If you can find them affordably try for some RPM front arms and rear arm mounts. They aren't so affordable anymore unless you find someone who has an abundance of them but they are the only thing I really ever broke.
These are a blast and I still prefer my b3 over b4 for durability and just overall fun.

I did see some on eBay for $30 plus shipping. I think I think I would rather just get the replacements.
Yep its a stealth.
Maybe a freshen up if its full of dirt / bad bearings etc.
They are tough units as standard equipment.
The b4 top shaft can be added while its apart.
You will also also need the slipper assembly too.
Google that one, theres a few write ups about what exactly needed.

In mine ive a b4 layshaft and vts slipper, makes the car more driveable due to the extra torque the brushless motor uses, ok i do run lrp x20 motors but the slipper does make a massive difference, a lap more than the b4 slipper.
Also i found buying the alloy front bulkhead added a bit of weight to the front plus a full size servo as well but i race on high grip whereas if on clay or dust tracks would presume someone who raced a b4 could point you in the right direction for weight placement.

Can anyone suggest a decent cheap basher truck. I bought a second hand Tamiya Wild Dagger a short time ago for this purpose, I was hoping with twin motors it would tick along a bit but unfortunately not, it's a bit pants actually  . I would...
Hey Guys I have a Video up on my Youtube channel of a basher test I conducting. Check it out if your bored and give me suggestions on what you would like to see.
Thanks guys!

Well if anything it keeps the spare parts end of the hobby going.
It actually has a year warranty on replacement parts like arms and stuff. I have some coming, ill let you know if they come.
I have alot of RC10's they are my favorite. Here in dearborn at hemlock park I have seen a group of guys running some tamiya buggies. They just bash the hell out of them . I am not a basher but looked like alot of fun to take a car and try to...

Looks real nice! I'm glad you changed your mind about using it as a basher 8)
OK, long time no post. I've been very busy with crawlers but also worked on several vintage projects in parallel which means a lot of time passes without any actual project ending! Finally finished this one though.

Yes, up front I used Triumph wheels. I had to use Triumph front axles as well since the wheels are narrower at the bearings.
I only have stick packs so this is what I use. I don't think saddle packs will have much advantage anyway, the way the...
I am not sure where else to put this and I hope everyone is ok with me posting this here.
I am not and have never really been a basher, when I was a kid I did the lets see how big of a jump I can take this off , until I broke something that was...

Thanks for the info, I like the idea of a short course truck and not having all the hanging body parts.
I am deciding to do a few things......and like most things I do it is probably over kill.

I built a couple XXTs as stadium trucks, but when I was a kid I didn't race one, I jumped it up & off curbs in my neighborhood, or did speed runs in parking lots with friends. I bashed the hell out of my old XXT. So I picked up a third one, restored...

Finally got a body painted for this thing. It's a Jconcepts 88 Chevy, the maroon color turned out great, but translucent red bled right through that white (more than gray or black!). So the fade is unintentional, but I guess it'll work for a...
