Traxxas - Tower Hobby Discount not allowed
I was looking at RC boats today on the Tower Hobby website, and noticed a Traxxas policy regarding coupon codes. There is a message in the lower left stating "Coupon Discount Not Allowed by Manufacturer of this Product".
Really disappointing. Anyone one else encounter this?
Any recommendations on the Aquacraft Revolt 30 or other brands/models?
Thanks Limestang

Funny when you consider a truck like the Rustler came out in 1994 and they are probably using the same molds 22 years later. The cost has gone up pretty substantial too. That was a hell of an investment!

I agree. There prices are getting ridiculous for what you are getting. On there boats, many of the reviews point to design issues.Lonestar wrote:Simple solution : boycott traxxas....

From what I understand on the whole coupon thing is that Traxxas is trying to help the brick and mortar hobby shops stay alive. If you can use these online coupons, why would anybody use their LHS? Not saying it's right or wrong or whatever. But it sorta made sense when I heard it explained like that.

They're like Trump... phoney logic, populistic, demagogic, and all-in for the profit after all!harry697 wrote:From what I understand on the whole coupon thing is that Traxxas is trying to help the brick and mortar hobby shops stay alive. If the prices at Tower Hobbies and at a LHS are the same, then why bother using one over the other?harry697 wrote:From what I understand on the whole coupon thing is that Traxxas is trying to help the brick and mortar hobby shops stay alive. Exactly. If the prices were the same, I know I would drive to my LHS and be playing with my new rc within an hour, instead of ordering online and waiting a week for it.
If prices were the same, I doubt anybody would be ordering online. Unless they didn't have a hobby shop within hours of them.

You guys are forgetting about sales tax. Even if the prices are the same between an online store and a local hobby shop, the savings on a $400 to $800 RC vehicle are still substantial when purchased online.
That said, please support your local hobby shops...

The problem is that my local hobby shop sucks *ss. All they have is Traxxas and that is all they think there is. Won't even acknowledge racers from the local track and then is pissed when no one buys from him. Sorry, no one races Traxxas.

Re: Traxxas - Tower Hobby Discount not allowed
Currently, the atmosphere at the LHS is all rtf, rtr. So, brands like traxxas, axial arma, vaterra, flyzone, thats all they sell. The counter boys dont even know parts, they look up parts numbers and recite weather or not its in stock.
So, those brands that are rejecting the coupon codes, are the ones that the LHS sells a ton of. They help to dumb down the overall rc experience. No skill needed any more, just very deep pockets. Money is what its all about now days. I suppose it was always a major concern, but now, its about the only concern.
Those brands of cars specifically are brutally tough, requiring almost no maintenance unless they get severely abused or modified. The radio systems are very reliable. All the lhs guys have to do is land 1 sale. Eventually the customer might come back for an extra battery, or an upgrade,, or possibly a replacement part,, but it all is focused on that 1 big ticket sale.
I edited down my rant. SHEESH. I really let it out.... go lhs,, yay....
