WOIN RC10 "new" build...

Post by NomadRacer »

Starting another build, almost have all the parts to get started.
WOIN1.jpg
All that's needed are a few more parts; rear arm mounts (ordered), shock end caps and collars (ordered), turnbuckles, and misc. parts.

Always looking forward to your builds Nomad. You are a master RC craftsman to be sure.

Ummm, also, not to be pushy but are you planning to wrap up some of your other builds anytime soon? I recall that a couple of them still need painted bodies. Not being pushy -- just asking... :D

Nomad
I don't really know why but after checking a pic of the motor the first thing that struck me was "BumbleBee"ish.
Nice choice.

While I was installing the steering bell cranks I found the shims for the bottom of the bell crank bushing nuts to be a little bit out of wack. One shim being thicker than the other. I fixed this with some T.O.P. Racing 1mm thick aluminum shims for pan car rear axles. These parts are a bit hard to find now a days.

Got a bit more done on the build. Servo is a Savox 1258TG with Exotek servo horn and Avid servo mounts. The servo mounting washers were made by me. The arms are World's wide track with 30* caster block carriers. 24mm titanium screws used with Avid B6 Shock standoffs and Lunsford hinge pins. Black ball studs are used for the front camber links.I will be switching those out for some AE Ti Nitride ones (on order) later on.

The black/gold theme you have going looks very nice Nomad.

What are the black ball studs you mentioned -- are they dimensionally similar to the standard kit studs?

Yes, they are dimensional to kit studs... .20 and .300" long with 4-40 threads. They are broached ends though, (2mm). I'm pretty sure I got them as a set from the B44 series. Can't call the kit for sure right now.

I'm digging the black/gold myself.

Thanks Nomad. While they're probably not appropriate for a restoration project, I think they'd be fine for everything else. I find the broached ones a little easier to install and tighten. I wasn't aware they'd fit vintage style ball cups.

I have the Ti Nitride ball studs now, along with Lunsford Titanium Wide Front Axles (RC10GT). Next, bust out the RIT Dyemore Graphite and dye the rear bulkhead and the Stealth transmission cases.

The part number for the Titanium wide front axles are LNS7048. They are on the Lunsford web site now
