Hello,
I'm new here and looking for a little help identifying a recent find. I've included a few photos and can take more if it helps. In the late 80s I read every RC Car Action magazine and dreamed of the day I could afford an rc10 buggy. Fast forward to today and my own kids driving around the yard in their traxxas rc cars so I decided to purchase a restoration project for myself. I was super lucky and got this for extremely cheap. I did remove the motor and verify the chassis has an A stamp, however someone cut it just behind the rear suspension for an unknown reason. I'm thinking this is an rc10 CE but need your expert help to verify. This also came with some interesting black shock towers and a loose black chassis that has no markings. Looking at some photos I believe these are Composite Craft parts, but once again I'm not sure. It also has aluminum steering bellcranks. What would you guys do with this? Find another intact A stamp chassis or transfer everything to the composite chassis?

Re: New to rc10talk need help
CE would have had non gasket shocks, inline steering arms, and a 4 or 6 hole tower. It’s more likely an earlier kit that simply had CE arms added. The bellcranks are odd- cool!- but not something I have seen sold back in the day. Could be home machined. Towers could be dyed or could be trinity/composite craft/etc. closer pic of the material would help.I wonder if they cut the motor guard to use it on the graphite chassis- although they didn’t drill it to match the chassis holes
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

Thanks for the reply and info! Here's a couple closer photos of the shock towers. The reason I guess composite craft is because of the lightening hole pattern on the rear tower, but again I'm no expert.

I have a graphite chassis very similar to yours. Mine also wasn't drilled for Stealth. The experts here identified it as being from Duratrax since it has 6 holes down each side. You can see it here:

I started disassembling and cleaning things and after a little time in my ultrasonic cleaner I've discovered the shock towers are black painted originals.

Poor tub! Who would cut it there and for what reason? The bell cranks are indeed very cool and most probably one-offs.
