do axial 10mm pistons fit assocaited 10mm shocks

Post by JosephS »

Does anyone know if the axial(or element) 10mm pistons fit the bore and piston of vintage 10mm associated shocks?

Their 10mm shocks use a 3.5mm shaft, too large.

Well that’s good to know. Is element the same?

I don't know. Considering that Element and AE are part of the same company, I'd ask them.

They do look a lot like V2's.

I was going through my shock box and found some Traxxas pistons for Ultra shocks (the common plastic ones). They fit nicely in some V1 bodies that I had there.

Do you know if the traxxas ultra shock external hardware, springs, retainers, prelaods clips and rod end would fit associated shocks?

They can be used but it isn't a direct swap.

The Traxxas upper locator is used along with the AE locator. Then, the Traxxas spring and lower cup can be used.

The preload are close enough. They don't snap tightly on AE bodies, but the spring tension keeps everything in place.

If the rod ends are new, they will be fine.

This is mostly Traxxas parts on AE bodies. The front springs are Duratrax but the rear springs, locators, and cups are Traxxas.

Thanks. That helps since the associated parts are hard to find at original prices.
