vintage dirt oval wedge body styles

Post by DWRCMTB »

OK, so I have been searching the internet high and low for pictures of vintage dirt oval wedge bodies from the late 80's to early 90's timeframe. One design in particular I am trying to find. Unfortunately my father threw away my painted one from back in the day just recently (It has been hanging in his garage since 1993 so I don't blame him).

The one I'm looking for in particular had a small faux engine intake "hump" just in front of the windshield. It was more of a smoothed bump than a rounded off air filter style bump. The front end was definitely more rounded and smoothed than a typical wedge style body, almost more like a GTP car of the day.

I'm trying to re-create a couple of my old racecars and without this body I will have no chance.

At any rate, perhaps some of you could share some pics of vintage dirt oval wedge bodies that you have or know about and help me out in identifying that long lost awesome body?

Thanks!
Dave

Some bodies here.

Best I can tell, they are associated with RJ Speed. My last order had a shipping label from RJ and some of the parts were other brands.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

Some more of Bolinks bodies here. The dirt oval molds went to Wind Tunnel Racing.

Thanks to both of you! Not seeing the one that I'm looking for yet but this is really helpful. I want ot say it was from Dahms, McAllister, or ProtoForm but that is just a 30 year old recollection so more of a guess.. I guess :)

Did it have a full roof/windshield, or just a small cockpit on the left?

It had the small cockpit on the left and lines running the length of the body from the rear of the cockpit to the Gurney flap area. I am 100% sure the one I was looking for is that Viper body. No idea who originally made it but I have one on the way and I couldn't be more psyched! Now I jut need to find some CRP Dynamite spiked tires that I can put on some HPI 10L wheels and get some lexan sheet to make a side dam and Gurney flap.
