Original RC10 A-Arms - longer!

Post by siebenelch »

I have the idea to fit B4-rims to the original RC10. The B4 rear-rims have 8mm less off-set. So why not make the a-arms 8mm longer? If I use the B4-CVD´s, it couldt fit perfectly, or not?

I made new a-arms with the original RC10-style, but 8mm longer.

I also will make longer a-arms for the front-axle later. They will be around 8mm longer and have improved shock-positions. I also will use the Inline-axle to get 250mm width.

And the best: I will design them in the oldschool-style from the first RC10-generation. I think, the design of them looks much better than the wide-arms-design.

There is a company who make rapid-prototype-parts from my drawings. Let me see, how much it will cost. They will make a mold to use Nylon-material for the a-arms.

Stay tuned!

Michael

Hmmmm

So thinking back, we've had: plastic, Nylon, aluminum,

next up: balsa, plywood, what about cherry or mahogany? Tough wood for sure!

those arms look pretty cool.

i'm doing the same thing with this car, only with dynotech arms, b4 cvd's, and 10t/gt hub carriers. the rear end should be at max legal width, if you were to race it.

Those arms were made by Chad for Bulletproof, ( an AZ based Nitro Sprint co), they were
originaly delrin ball raced arms, then the Lucite ones you have, then 6/6 nylon multi hole
similar to a losi xxx buggy, except we would use Raborn sliders and could vary length--
I think I have 4-5 pair of those in delrin, might have to use them now

To put b4 wheels on a RC10 you will also need to change rear hubs because they rub the stock RC10 ones. However if you do the conversion to b3 wheels the car is very close to the b4. There might be a benefit to lengthen the arms and changing the offset though.
My lap times are almost identical between the b4 and RC10 (I am a average driver)

Those arms look freaking cool though :D

scr8p's conversion method is also a good edm/car conversion for a 10t/gt. i'm sure reghammer has seen this conversion run on ovals there are a few in my aera and they run very well. you could use the standard rc-10 arms on the rear but they come up short to match the front track width. with the worlds/dynotech arms used in this way, the suspension has same dimensions and geometry as the 10t/gt just narrower. ive seen these conversions run on ovals and they are fast. it all has to do with keeping the hinge pin mounting points close to the same front and rear for optimal weight transfer, front to rear and corner to corner. which is one of the reasons why they got away from the wide style noseplate, and why the gt version ran so long with out being updated. i was considering building one of these myself with my spare oval truck chassis.

We had a few B3 width front arms made so we could run a "narrow" or standard front b/h and
still stay under 9 7/8", but it puts the track out to exactly B4 (roar max) width

BTW how did the B4/Team car pics get so close in track????, My B2 based cars are a FULL 1"
narrower that the B4 counterpart
