B4 rear axles

Post by PBR Allstar »

Can the B4 rear axles (I know the cvd bones are too long with the rc10 a arm) be used in an earlier hub carrier (GT to be exact) if you use the #9608 wheel spacers? or is the axle still too long? I have an oddball idea that I will share when the time is right

Damn, those B4 spacers must be pretty thin! I was hoping it was going to be right on.... what about using b4 hub carriers? I'm just trying to utilize some parts I have laying around that are going in a frakenbuggy of sorts.

aeiou tried it with stock rc10 arms, and b4 carriers and cvd's. i know it didn't work, but i can't remember if it was too short or too long.

I recently tried with RPM carriers (white), 3/16" 3/8" flanged bearings, stock rear chassis lenght, stock rear arm mounts and RPM long arms and though it was only a quick mock-up it actually seemed to work pretty well with use of B4 rear rims... I'll make an update when everything is on the car!

We are working on wheel adapters to use B4 wheels on the older RC10's for Vintage Nationals.... They are going to be dialed!

here is where I am at the moment, stock B4 CVD's, RPM carriers and 3/16" 3/8" flanged bearings, it works perfectly so far...

it'd probably be easier/cheaper to just stock some duratrax nitro evader wheels.

Here's a link to a project where a lot of B4 parts were used, including the CVDs and RPM rear hubs and (repro) arms:

Its pretty easy/cheap when a machine shop is next door, and the owner races r/c cars, and he's the landlord to your hobbyshop (thats holding Vintage Nationals)

I have a couple other products on the design table for the future as well....

are the RPM hub carriers used solely for wheel clearance with the B4 wheels? or would I need the RPM carriers even with Duratrax wheels??? And what is the P/N or link for the RPM carriers?

thanks guys good info!

Actually, the RPM hubs I used (AE RC10T hubs work also) were selected mainly for axle spacing and height, not necessarily for wheel clearance. Clearance shouldn’t be an issue with the Duratrax wheels, but keep in mind those wheels do not have the same offset as B4 wheels.

Here’s the link to the RPM hubs I used:

FYI - the RPM rear hubs Asso_man is using are actually discontinued vintage parts. And they appear to be minty white as well... :)

I think the clearance could be problematic if you use the stock rear hubs, they are a few millimeters away from the wheels actually. The RPM hubs I have also lift the CVD's, no clearance problem and a perfect fit, on top they actually lower the COG of the car at the rear!

i'm using the losi h-arms hubs on mine. they do the same thing (lower cog), plus they have a rediculous amount of camber holes. :)

and as we all know, they are easier to find and WAY cheaper than their "RC10" counterparts
