First Jrx2 build

This will be my first Jrx2 build , just picked this up locally over the weekend along with a small box of parts. Looks like all the parts are still there to reassemble the 5 link. Performance and durability wise which is the better set up to use and also the large screws on the bottom of the chassis are also quite worn , is there any recommendations for replacement screws.

If you're building a jrx2, you gotta put the 5 link on it. However, because of the number of pivot points (10 on each side), it may develop more play than the h-arms. As for performance, it really depends on the track.

As for the screws, it may be difficult to find the original black aluminum screws. If this will be a runner, I would suggest getting some 8-32 steel screws. You'll never have to wory about stripped screws again.

Do you have the original battery box for the car?

Well opinions will vary greatly on the suspensions, if you want (Performance and durability) I would leave the H arms, I have had at least 100 Losi's over the years and I personally don't like the 5 link its way to sloppy for me. I have a Jrx2 sitting on my shelf build with all new 5 link never ran and it feels wore out and sloppy? even Losi went away from it with the next car? so its personal preference, it looks cool sitting on the shelf, but even when this car was new we were putting H arms on our race cars.

As for the chassis screws I use these and you cant tell them from the stock ones just get the 1/2 the 5/8 are to long:

The aluminum screws that Rick suggest are exact replacements. Correct degree angles on the flat head part of the screw. Black anodized. They actually have better anodizing than those from Losi. Plus you get enough to do 3-4 complete cars.

I personally like the 5 link. Yeah, they have some slop in them, but have you ever looked at the suspensions on most Tamiys cars? Talk about slop. And they still run fine. When I originally bought into the Truggy game, I started out with a Jammin X1CRT (I think that was the name)... They handled better after they got a lot of slop worn into them. I didn't get it at first, but sure enough, it was true. Think of a little slop as freeness of movement I guess. Besides, it really doesn't make that much of a difference that we as recreational racers could feel on the track anyway.. But if you want an original JRX2 then go with it. They make great rough track handlers with the 5 link. If you plan on racing, just make sure you put #4 washers on the 4-40 screws that hole the balls onto the arms to "capture" them.

Yeah,the 5 link is a little sloppy,but IMHO,it's what makes a JRX2 really unique and totally cool!
The H arms do perform better,no doubt,but you lose a lot of the kooky cool factor ditching the 5 link...

I rummaged through the parts box and that is the only battery box I could find. There was a 9 turn motor in there though , can the transmission and axles handle that ? I do remember seeing a Mcallister buggy body at the lhs that looked very similiar to the stock jrx2 , was there one available that would fit this buggy and also thanks for the tips , I will give the links a try.

mcallister had a buggy body called the stinger which was made for the jrx-2. very hard to find, I've never seen one, and unfortunately they no longer have the mold for it. There are some other buggy bodies that they made that might fit, I have not tried on a short wheelbase/5-link car though.

Almost finished , just need some small parts here and there. Installed the b2 front and rear rims , tried xx rims but they rubbed on the suspension links. I see what you guys mean about the slop. Thought my rear wheels wear loose but I took it for a test spin around the house and it does seem to drive well although the transmission does sound a bit loud. Is it normal for these transmission to make a bit more noise or am I just use to the almost silent rc10 stealth transmission. Well , on to the body...

I am not attached to any of them, My whole collection is always for Sale!!! but know its not my Jrx pro I dont think I will ever sell that one? but if some fool with with the right amount of money I just might. once their done I loose intrest in them? I like to build them not dust them. and I must say with no track around the thought of selling all of them is getting stronger everyday?

I agree, I have actually taken pictures of a couple builds and listed them for sale with parts still in the mail to complete the build
If only I had the space and $ to keep all the cars I've had in the past 5-10 years. . .
