Was looking at an old mag last night and saw a pic of Kevin Moores Cougar.
He is running a wire mounted wing? It has little alloy wire holders on the shock tower with a grub screw to hold the wire mount and white wing buttons in the wing.
Was this...

This is sort of modification similar to what Masami did in his RC10 and Yokomo.
Just to make it look 'Factory'
just thinking about the cougar 1 and belt drives in general
ive heard the cougar belt drive described as sluggish , so do people in general upgrade to a geared box out of one of the other models or is the cougar belt drive a good thing?...

thanks for the input guys, it actually makes sense when i think about it, a simple 3 gear tranny would be hard to beat, especially for 540 racing
I'm building up a SWB Cat with Fibrelyte chassis and Mr Lexan repro body, and don't have a SWB drive belt. I imagine genuine SWB Cat belts are either non-existant or being hoarded (rightfully so). I recall reading once somewhere that...

Thanks again...I'll place the order over the weekend!
I've been putting the finishing touches to my Cougar 2000 Comcom tub. It's probably the nicest looking chassis i have, and i had to think long and hard about whether to paint the body. In the end i made a mess of the masking :? so i ended up...
I thought I read Losi ones will work, one on left is Schumacher and 8mm across, all the Losi ones I have are like the one on the right and 10mm. Anybody know of something that is the 8mm size? DSCF4716.JPG

No problem but the Procat diff axles are definitely 1/8 (3.2mm) so that's good to know both the T-Rex thrust washer plates fit.
Disc springs... What's the consensus on how many to use? Procat manual shows 2, but I believe some people use 4.
Where can I get a Procat front belt, any ideas? -It's the last piece in the jigsaw for my car (though my U/J's are very worn).

Cheers for the heads-up Luke, ordered a couple of Belts.

Ok here is the Schumacher Topcat im building for the shelf, I still have to do a few things but its pretty much complete, id like to source some original white wheels but ill see what comes up. From this build i remember what i hate about...

Nice Topcat, I love mine and the next one I have not built yet. I'd love to see someone with painting skill, not me, do a Top Hat Tuxedo Cat type paint theme. And then give me the body
I'm looking at getting some new Procat sideplates laser cut out of 1.5mm stainless steel. I'll end up with quite a few spares so I wanted to guage interest and find out who would also want some. The cost per pair might be about £13 plus postage...
Hi all, new to this board but hoping for some help.
I am trying to track down a new shell for my Storm 2000 & also a gear cover (same as Cougar 2000) been hunting high and low for a long time but still no joy, any suggestions would be greatly...
Well Ive been away a while and having a 2nd child has taken over my hobbies, but now he is 8 months Ive finally found time to finish some of my cars (Still far to many cars left in parts to build!!!)
This is exactly how it was given to me. Only thing I will do is rebuild the shocks. And place new bands on the front...

Is that front wing home-made or was it a hop-up offered by a particular manufacturer? I can imagine it helps considerably with the usual understeer that this car can suffer from. Looks cool too.
Ha, just found a NIP front wing. Its an RC10 front...
I've seen a Cat SX that I'm really tempted to buy. Owner wants around A$300 - roller, no electronics.
The car has been raced, looks nice condition and has some seriously nice hop-ups, looks very sexy.

Thanks for the good advice guys. Maybe I was letting all that pretty C.F. and anodised ally get the better of me! (And I know I should spend the dough on my Procat and GV projects anyway).
Schumacher XL and C-Car were some of the 1/12th cars I did run in the past. The XL Lexan-Car was my favourite car before the carpet tracks appeared. The C-Car with stickpack chassis was the last 1/12th car I did run before I retired this class. The...

I´m happy I got my Schumacher 1/12th cars as used, so I don´t have to think about it for giving away again for this reason.
But again I didn´t buy very much cars as NIB now. Maybe the most important cars to me (Delta) I got a NIB Phaser...
Just scored this on eBay Germany for less than 50$. I put a low snipe on it and never thougth I would win the auction actually. I have way too many on going projects and absolutely no spare time to wrench these days, but still I'm happy to add it to...

Yup, something tells me it's really nice under that mud. It was probably run a few times, then the front end was slightly crashed and the part was never replaced. The surprise will be a first look at the underside of the pan. We'll see, but can't be...
Just a stock Topcat with stainless hex head hardware and ceramic diff balls for durability. I run this one around the yard and such so I was not concerned with perfection. I have all the revised front end parts and a composite craft chassis which...

Makes sense to me. It's always the little odd thing that breaks. I learned years ago with a parts box full of extra a-arms, shocks, gears and an entire parts car it would be the one part I did not have that would end my day. Usually the last thing...
hi, does anyone know if there's repro roll bar kit for the cat xls? Or will I have to scour the bay for a set (f/r)? thanks.
edit: forgot to say it's for a runner.

:?: Didn t the CAT XLS come with only the front roll bar? any one know? I have a NIB XLS but the box has been open and its missing the instruction manual so maybe its missing the rear roll bar, I only see the front one in the parts bag.????? :?:...
Hi would very much like a Cougar 2000 shell, anyone know of any repo's about?
Think there maybe a market for a repo shell :D .....or am I totally wrong

. I didnt realize it had an overspray film on it.
don't beat yourself up too bad. I've bought alot of body's over the years and have had several come off ebay all stickered up and painted inside with the overspray still attached. Had a few come...
maybe there was an aftermarket chassis in graphite > I was asking at Schumacher Racing for one in the 80s and was told that it wouldn't work as intended (too stiff) ;)
so I dyed my GFK ones black - being my favourite colour (besides red - used on...
I contacted John at JC Racing Products to ask if they could make some black dish wheels for the Cat / XLS / Procat (currently they only make the spoke wheels) and he would like to know how much demand there might be.

Just got this cheap off the bay. Not sure if it will be stripped for spares or run it.
Has red shock bodies ( not pictured) No shocks up the front so i quickly bolted up some alloy threaded shocks. Has a slipper too which is the main reason why i...
Hi guys, new to the board here. I just made a similar post under the RC10 buggy thread. Thought I would share some of the Top Cat pics with you guys on this thread. From what I gather, these are all for the Top Cat. Im having a little trouble...

I will definitely be restoring 2 of them. It's on the list anyway. Have something in the works right now, as far as acquiring more goodies. Once I have everything, I will get a plan together on what I want to do.
anyone have a gear chart for the bosscat. need to find what pinion to run
on a 95t spur, running an 11.5 brushless motor.
cheers

Hi Brian.
Don't know if I can post a link to other sites on this one but here's what you asked for
You can find most manuals on this site. Think Bosscat would be same as all early Cats.
This is what I pm'd you. Just been looking at rules and can't...
Found my favorite racer while digging through some old RC boxes last night. I smile just looking at it. Only one that raced in my area while I did. Lots of fond memories of the locals not being able to beat it with their AE's and Losi's...lol. I...

The thread on the Schumacher XL reminded me of a series that was on SKY TV about 5 years ago that featured the XL lexan car and the CAT XL buggy of Masami's. After a bit of hunting, i found it :D Not sure if this has been posted before, but i...
A guy came in the shop and was talking about some old Schumacher Lotus 1/6th scale. I had never seen one so I asked him to bring it in. Now I own it... just cant help myself!
I think it's pretty cool. Think I'll drop some big brushless power in it...

I had a Big 6 for a lot of years, just sold it last year... great fun car to drive. I drove mine last on the Velodrome with twin NiMH packs and a 4.5R brushless.... used to melt the solder on the battery wiring, and I'd lose power!
Here is my old procat I purchased in 1993 in Northampton - UK. I wish to restore it.
Some parts are missing or broken, but it should run as is.
Wonder if it is a good idea to go brushless with a LIPO? I was thinking using a HobbyWing...

i ran one in a vintage series last year using a 13.5t brushless without any problems, but the procat had MMS diffs and layshaft fitted.
the lipo stick pack fitted across the chassis using the original battery straps.
Scored these two NIP off the Bay. I am suspecting they are pretty rare. One will be for my my next Topcat project which will have the upgraded front end parts, and some new Cougar SV shocks and god knows what else. The other, I think I will hang it...

That chassis plate went for a real song. If I didn't already have one I'd have been all over it. Best part is that these are not remanufactured repops but the original still in the bag.
That says something.
Or if someone has one they can lend me I can get some vacum formed?
I am mates with the owner of Xtreme Rc who make the Predator and he has a vac former so can turn this round fairly quickly. If there is demand I can make a few??

I've gotten better at vac forming since my...
Hi Guys, just wondered what was the preffered cell location on the Cougar 1-2's.
I see the Works cars had the cells down the middle, some of the Cougar 1's have saddles mounted at the back or a stick pack accross the rear of the chassis.
Not sure...

Thanks. That's an interesting article on your TamiyaClub page. I'm intrigued to know just how much difference there is in performance between the roller driveshafts and the standard driveshafts. On the track, was the difference noticeable and, if...
