Ok, so this is the original scan of the decal, at 600 dpi. It looks so-so if viewed at actual size on the screen. Zooming in a good amount shows that there are various colors all over the place...which is what causes issues with the vector...
It's going on the gold pan I'm building for my dad.

Looks good. 8) Brandon G was going to paint a Colts based body for my E-Savage for me a few years ago, but my vinyl provider fell through and I scrapped the idea. I'd like to revisit it one day.
So I finally got around to modelling up some parts and sending them to shapeways. I'm curious what you guys use to paint parts? I'm looking to do, a glossy black and chrome sprays. These are trim pieces for a build such as mirrors and bumper parts...
Does anyone have any tried and true methods for saving old parts like these? Not concerned with the wheel, just the tire. Just grabbed these off fleabay. Appreciate any suggestions.

Tried a variety of things. The best is in the ultrasonic cleaner with the heat on, which softens the paint making it flexible and can then be picked and peeled off. Took a small sample of rubber and soaked it on the acetone with no ill effect to the...
i havent used liquid mask before but im wondering about how well it seals. If I cut a line but dont remove the piece, will paint bleed through the cracks to the body.
I'm thinking that before I spray anything, I cut all the edges of my design and...

YESSSS, exactly. I've never had that happen with Fasmask.
I'm josh (afka lidz, rclidz, R/C Lidz), I've been painting now for over 10 years, and have been into the aesthetic side of the hobby since I was a kid. Concourse contests were always much more interesting to me than who actually won the...

It looks to me like that guy was compelled to apply every sticker on the sheet on those bodies...I actually think the paint work was good (just not my favorite colors), but all but obscured by the myriad stickers. 8)
I would like to make some custom B1M stickers for my mid motor RC10 project (see link in signature if you haven't seen it). Anyone try printing stickers on inkjet sticker paper? I see Avery has full sheet inkjet sticker paper in white and clear. On...

Hi guys, I have been cutting out shells for 20 years now, but the thing I ALWAYS get wrong and stuff is when the body goes over the rear shock tower and clears the shocks
is there a trick to this ? or should I go back to my touring car bodys ;)

Well! you have a wast involvement in your grasp. I don't know whether there is one, yet I think the least demanding approach to take is to get a decent set of scissors. On the off chance that you take after the line of the shell, deliberately things...
Questions now that I've stripped a body with DOT 3. Some colors were much more resistant to being easily stripped, and seems the silver left a cloudy look in spots. Also had to scrub pretty good to get through other sots. I heard mention of...

This one didn't want to strip, much thinner body to. Looks like ass.
I think I'm going to attempt a worlds box art style paint scheme on my NIX10M. It looks easy enough, good color combo and no mistaking what the car is.
Is this a good idea or not?

I ended up painting it box art which didn't come out too bad. The drips are too uniform on mine but it looks good.
I have a Kyosho Scorpion Tub that was white but do to sun bleaching has a yellow tint. Does anyone have a method to make it white again? I was thinking bleach, oxiclean or maybe a magic eraser. Any help would be appreciated I don't want to damage...

Mr. Clean magic erasers are micro-abraiding. Don't do that, it'll end up swirl frosted.
HI!... I'm currently restoring a RC10 DS with the Mustang body. I have NIP decals for the car, but last night as I was applying them I noticed some were missing? Is there a 2nd decal sheet that originally came with the car? I seem to be missing the...

Hello all,
I haven't been on here much lately. I think it was Scr8p who said real cars would take over, and he was right.

I have a Badger 155 dual action brush. Seems to work well - but I'm still figuring out the whole airbrushing thing myself! I was like you - wanted one solution for everything. Or at least one compressor for everything.
To sum up the post below. I used a duratrax rattle can to paint with and it was horrible. Tamiya color cans are gone at my LHS. What can I use in place since i dont want to make the jump to an airbrush system yet.
So with tamiya color paint no...

Just bought some Spaz Stix paints. FL Yellow, FL Blue, and White. We'll see. I have only used the Tamiya and Pactra paints in the past. With the RTR and pre- painted bodies, who in the hell needs a quality paint anymore? Right? Wuuf. I'll report...
I purchased an air brush some ten years ago for the Testors acrylic model paints. I think I may have used it once since I bought it until the last few months. So far I have painted at least two RC10 bodies and one Stampede body with Parm FastColor...

If you're after a recipe for a suitable cocktail... Try

Cup of rubbing alcohol or methylated spirits
Few drops of Dish detergent, no more than half tsp
Mix it all into a trigger pump pack & its good to go.
