I took another pass at the same motor. I cleaned it up better, but there are still issues with it. However this motor doesn't spin freely without brushes and springs in it. All my other motors have some degree of spin. I wonder if there is something...

I have never opened one, but I have read various methods on this site. If no one responds, you might try searching. Your motor has been opened at least once already as evidenced by the motor tabs. You might be able to get a small flat blade...

Here is a piece of tape that was on the can. Too ugly and probably not original so it is not being glued back on. Not sure what 63 means?

Peak detection? Is that some sort of auto shutoff?

Were these motors pretty strong back in the day?

Out of the bag the 4 came with unterminated motor/battery wires. Deans plugs and a capacitor suggest it was used in an adults race car. The two small red wires are for the controllers BEC, connected together for up to 6 cell, unconnected for 7 and...

All of my comm sticks are made from a flexible material, similar to a hard eraser.

The Trinity comm pen was just a fiberglass pen. The same generic type is still available on Amazon.

I would like to get one of those 3PJ's one day. Great mid-late 90's radio for nostalgia.

The fail safe feature was what made the 3PJ/S and the Rx it came with, the one to have for nitro in the late 90's.

If it matters to you, the specs are as follows...

The 427 motor is a 16X2 suited for 4WD with an RPM of 36,000.

The Dirt Oval motor is a 24X1 suited for 2WD Or 4WD with an RPM of 25,200.

If you check out new in the package 'Peak' motors, you'll see they give the company as Peak Performance on the back of the header cards. So they're one and the same.

From what I've found, the one you have seems to be a 15x3.

The pinion end looks like it uses a Parma can.

If you can find a spektrum module for it you can use 2.4 unless you want to keep it original.

Thats what I have done with me Fut 3VCS. love this radio and now its 2.4 its brought it back to life.
The only problem is I have to use DSM rx only...

just make sure the heat shrink isn't to thick, there is some thick stuff out there that makes the packs abit to big. Ask me how I know ;)

I was digging through my R/C stuff and found instructions for the Pro Control. A few creases but still fairly intact.

I have these on several brands of transmitters.

According to the manual, the transmitter needs a 12VDC supply.
Reducing the power supply reduces the measured RF output.

Alkaline batteries have a higher voltage than equivalent nicd and nimh cells. The charger is designed around it's intended...

Which Radon motor are you using? Is it a Radon or a Radon 2? If a Radon 2, is it the 15, 17, or 19 turn motor?

It's a 17 turn Radon (doesn't specifically say Radon 2 , just Radon).

The red one. It was the kit motor for brushed SC10's, maybe...

It came with some other parts I needed. I already have a nice Diamond motor, so this one is ok to be a rebuild project.

The eBay seller in Germany never got back to me about the Spektrum SPM1012 kit, with the SM1001 and SR3001.

But I found the earlier version though, which is closer to era correct for the USA-1 NC, and GT.
