RC10 Tekin active link mid motor conversion with SACS front suspension
Just got inspired by some threads on the Tekin conversion to post an old build. As per usual I had collected parts for a long time and wanted to build a mid motor conversion for vintage racing on modern carpet tracks. In 2014 I was ready to assemble a car for the Nordic Vintage Challenge. Ended up driving another car just then, but that is another story.
I have two mid motor conversions corresponding to our rules for vintage racing, the RC10 Tekin and a Schumacher Fabiix 2000. Both fun cars on modern tracks!
Started off with a new Tekin kit acquired way back. Then collecting parts to complete. Soon I came across the Schumacher SACS active caster system for the RC10, and wanted to pair it with the Tekin kit.
Just running through a few pictures from the build.

An old scratched up golden nose plate was stripped and sanded for a good finish and kick-up adjusted to 25 degrees. Then a coat of black and the SACS mounted.

Ok, from the active caster provided by Schumacher at the front end we continue to the active camber at the rear...
Overhauled a black case stealth and flipped the top shaft the right way for the mid motor configuration and mounted it to the Tekin motor plate from the kit. On this build I've used the original slipper.
The Tekin instructions suggest 0 degree suspension mounts. I mounted a set of black 0 degree #7364, and later I have also tried 1,5 just for kicks. However, came soon enough back to the 0 degree.
For hub carriers I've used the Losi #2038 and four 1/4 x3/8 plain bearings.
Then continued with the active link system and attached it to the rear Tekin bulkhead. The "feet" of the link system are attached to the Tekin rear A-arms. Titanium rear turnbuckles connect the active link system to the Losi carriers via RPM ball cups.

Rounding off the build with how the car eventually turned out. The first year I tried out some different parts, but the last years the build has settled.
In addition to the parts mentioned above, todays sits are as follows:
Body: AE #6121 Viper
Axles: AE 6369 CVA
Shocks: AE hard anodized 1.32 and 0.71
Bell crank and nose tubes: JConsepts
Wheels: 2.2 jcracing, rubber according to track or rules
Servo always the same: Savox 1251
Usually running a Trinity 17,5 Kill Shot ("Beast" double torque, Express Motorsport) paired with a HW 2.1 ESC
In addition to the parts mentioned above, todays sits are as follows:

Thanks! It is a really great car to my taste and fun on carpet and astro. Being a combo of my favorite brands AE and Schumacher doesn't hurt my feelings for it
The SACS active caster system was originally made for the Cougar 2000, then Schumacher made kits for both the RC10 and Losi XX.

I'd love to see a short video close up of the active camber working if possible , love stuff like that .
If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.

As a suspension arm rises there's like a mono shock mount on the arm and a link to a watts linkage , if the other arm remains in place it will push the camber plate toward the static arm giving negative camber to the raised am and positive to the static arm ....... I think couple that to a roll induced steering and you'd have a really interesting rear end

Yes, would be good with a video of both the front and rear suspension, but it will have to wait. Unfortunately, I have very limited amount of RC time now, and the car is now packet away. The SACS front end is brilliant in its simplicity. Reviews are mixed on whether it improved performance on the tracks of the day, but it definitely did function as designed. It was standard on my Cougar 2000 (a 95 Team car, iirc), but I was not qualified to judge its effectiveness. I hit the wall with the same frequency and force with or without it.
