Removing paint from nylon wheels?

Well, I guess nylon is nylon, regardless of who presses it into shapes. What procedure did you use? Brush it on? Soak it for 10 minutes? Bathe it overnight?

i don't think i let the parts soak. i started scrubbing right away.

i'd try a small spot on the inside of the rim just to make sure it doesn't do anything to the part.

Well, here's another update. I played hockey tonight and left the wheels to soak in Easy-Off all night long. I figure they were soaking for 4+ hours. I was expecting to come home to a puddle of plastic glop, but the wheels were intact. Score one for Kyosho! At any rate, I had to give each wheel a thorough scrubbing with a toothbrush to remove most of the paint remnants. Easy as lickety-split, it was NOT. In fact, there's still paint stuck in little recessed holes in the centers of the wheels. But, I removed 95% of the paint after that good long soak, now they're getting another brake fluid bath overnight.

Another update: Finally got the paint off the wheels. It took alternating baths in brake fluid and spraying with Easy-Off. On some wheels, the paint crinkled up and mostly pulled off easily, but on others, NOTHING would get rid of the crusted paint in the niches except going at it with a needle to tease the stuck paint off the surface. I even had to use a new X-Acto blade similarly to remove paint stuck around the simulated lug nuts on the original Optima wheels.

Now, they're a bit discolored, so I'll be trying the peroxide-in-the-sunshine bath. At least I'm happy that the paint is gone, but it was absolutely not a quick or easy-peasy task.

I have also received a rare bi-level lexan wing that I'll be removing a layer of snot-green paint from the primary wing surface. I read through every link I could find regarding paint removal from lexan, and it appears that brake fluid isn't recommended as it will make the body brittle and my haze the lexan. This nitro fuel (30%) seems to work well. The paint doesn't look like a fancy Pactra paint, so hopefully it comes off easily.

Before you waste your time and $10 worth of chemicals stripping the paint off of the wing, if it's a Bud's bi-level wing, you can buy most of them still brand new right from BRP (new name for Bud's) for not much cash...

I boiled mine on tap water to remove some glued wheels and the silver paint came off.

I needed to strip the finish off a pair of Traxxas Rad 2 rims and went with the brake fluid method. This was my first time stripping rims and they turned out great. I did one a few nights ago and did the other tonight. Though some of the finish is still stuck in the crevices of the ribs were the tire bead goes but I ran out of brake fluid.
