My Yokomo 870c, YZ-10???
Hi guys
I've just acquired this Yokomo, after looking for one for a while. It has no box or instructions, but came with radio, Tanaplan modified motor, speedo etc.
I'm not 100% sure what exact model it is, it seems to have one or two modified bits here and there.
Can anyone help identify it please??
Thanks!

Re: My Yokomo 870c, YZ-10???
It's a Works '91 with many modifications, like front suspension arms, steering, upper links, front shocks, bumper, spur & spur adapter, wheels and tires.
Vintage Yokomo naming have been a little mystery to me, since they (almost) all seems to have: "ZY-10" and "Super Dog Fighter" in the names.
Once again one interesting speedo from UK with more than 10 FET's and a relay.

Brilliant, thanks for the positive I.D. Jirka. My plan is to strip it down, clean and replace anything that's worn/faulty. It all seems pretty spot on up to now, just dirty. Will also be sourcing a new body shell, and wing/mount, tyres etc..Jirka wrote:It's a Works '91 with many modifications, like front suspension arms, steering, upper links, front shocks, bumper, spur & spur adapter, wheels and tires.

Cool - I was watching that on ebay.... I'm assuming you are another UK based member sheriff??xxxmain wrote:You also have a rear bulkhead cap on the front. Ha ha, that speedo looks awesome!!
Yes that shell looks different to the usual 91 shell - it has that rear 'fast-back' portion - perhaps a Frewer or Racecraft version of the shell??
I believe thats the Nosram 'Exterminator' which was the reverse version of the smaller (but still huge by today's standards) fwd only 'Dominator'.... clicky relay o-rama

Yes I'm from Cheshire (Chester), not too many UK members here are there?
That shell certainly seems to be a repro of some sort. Going to source a Works 91 shell on eBay, I think TBG do one, not sure about the undertray though. I've already ordered some pink wheels for it, just need some tyres for them. Will try and get an instruction manual too.
Well you can't really miss that speedo can you. It works fine though, bonus! I've discovered the motor is a 15 double turn.
Cheers

Those Nosram speedos were great! Hard to do any British driver replica without one!

Could that body be a Dahm's Razer? I have a small pic of one in an old RCCA Buyer's Guide, but I can't make out the details. A matching underbody was also available.

Not too sure fellas, but I'm going to have to source an original shape Works 91 shell, shouldn't be too hard to find.LTO_Dave wrote:Could that body be a Dahm's Razer? I have a small pic of one in an old RCCA Buyer's Guide, but I can't make out the details. A matching underbody was also available.
Lto Dave, it does have a matching undertray with it, yes.

Re: My Yokomo 870c, YZ-10???
It's a bit of a Heinz 57. Looking at it I would say that:
91 chassis
91 upper chassis
91 front and rear shock towers
91 rear shocks, although not sure
91 rear suspension arms, I can't make out the hubs
870c front hubs and carriers
870c andy's long suspension arms
870c 2.0 wheels
Non standard steering bell cranks and gear adapter
870c front belt tensioner with a homemade mount
Schumacher xls/procat front shocks
Form the colour I would guess at 870c magnesium front/rear bulkheads
Yes it does have a rear bulkhead cap on the front.
It looks like it started of as a 870c but was upgraded as new parts came out.
