Long wheelbase tub racer, fugly but fast

Post by factory team gair »

Here is an old rc10 I've raced the last couple weeks in the LWB position. I love how it drives this way, I love how it drove normal wheelbase too.

Discuss.

I actually ran the long wheelbase setting back in the mid-late 80s. Had a track over in Mableton,Ga that we ran a good bit on and it hooked up good stretched out. Of course the owner tilled the track before ech race weekend.. Other tracks not so good.

Wow some new AKA vektors and raised the ride height. I'm used to bones level being the same as arms level. These things are fast, people. Set some drag brake, and now just need some corner speed to continue to lay the beatdown on new cars.

Sweet! Q 5 and finished 4th out of 16 mod buggies. It actually feels like I'm not giving away anything to new buggies, the rc10 does everything I want it to. I should drive a new buggy around to see how that goes,

What LWB Setting did you use? Both front and rear long?

I ran mine Sat and finished 3rd ( 5th if you listen to the whining guy with the RB 5 who just couldn't have been beat by that old thing ) and the fastest lap of the night ( not the best 10 min run though ) which I bettered by over a second in final practice

I wish I could drive mine well enough to make a good showing at my local track. I showed up this weekend with my new b4, and one of the guys said it was about time I got rid of the old RC-10. I told him it would be back. If not for the bent chassis, I would have went back home to get it and enter it.

I'm running long in front and short rear.
I like the forward angle on the drive shafts.
Good to hear of others racing against modern cars as well as in vintage class.

The front LWB setting is +12mm, the rear is +6mm. I agree that the driveshaft and camberlink sweep is less desirable, but I noticed a bunch more corner speed and forward bite with the rear adjustment. Might just be my wheelie prone track too!

Reg, have you tried using the long in the front along with the long setting out back?

Just use 5% window tint, and no one can see what you're doing.

This thread got me wondering. I guess the new B4.1 Worlds has a +8mm chassis. Anyone know if they decided to add it on to the front or the rear? Curious how AE's reasoning on the new buggies compares to what you guys are discussing on this thread.

The AE +8 is extended equally between the front and rear.
