My KILLER ( Fox Knock Off) NIB but not for long...

Post by Mad Racer »

Hi Guys.

Well i got my Killer today thanks to Luke on this Forum and my lovely partner as this is my x mass present.

It;s NOT a Tamiya so i don't see the need not to enjoy building this and lightly run with other fox's . If it breaks i have heaps of Fox spares anyway.

First are some pics of the Box and contents. I have built a new Fox before so i can see some differences.

There is No driver figure . It does show it in the instructions.

Instructions are the same as Tamiya too.

Most notable difference is the the rear alloy cage, Wing, Front & Rear sway bars, Alloy shock tower, Wheels, Bumper & Motor Guard, Decals,

Any Questions please ask.

I have just finished my Killer. I went with the Box art, Added better wing buttons as i wasn't keen on the speed nuts .

Anyway this is all finished awaiting for the new servo that's been ordered .

Hope to run it at the vintage festival.

That box art doesn't look half-bad. Good choice.

Is it me or are the front wheels on the box mounted backwards?

It's not really you, it's the company that made this knock-off cutting costs and cheaping out on the manufacturing process...they didn't actually make directional wheels, they just used the same wheel for both sides. That results in one wheel always looking like it's on backwards.

Marc ,

You are right being a cheap knock off. There are some flaws in the kit as you pointed out.

The build was not as smooth going as Tamiya and some area's were very vague mostly the front sway bar set up.

The body is not as well done either . BUT the quality of the additional alloy parts ( Motor guard, Rear roll cage, Rear sway bar hardware, Front sway bar set up) All seems very well made and well designed. I have a Boomerang Wasp rear sway bar and it's design, colour and pick up points are the same. I think the alloy for the killer was produced by Wasp or at least designed by them.

Add to that the Killer comes standard with BEC circuit pre wired in & the Fox you had buy that on top of the kit.

All this for a way cheaper price & you can see the value still.

I'm still to test this out but love the fact i am running something a little different. I never have followed the pack and always like to be a little different.

I'll agree with you there, Mark. The gold roll-bar and alloy parts are a step up from the Tamiya Fox offerings. Too bad they had to cheap out on the wheels, though.

And as far as "not following the pack" goes...well, can anybody say I follow the pack? LOL Kudos to you, mate!

Being a Fox fan/collector I enjoyed seeing this.

Regarding the directional wheels, even full size car manufacturers do this on cheaper models. One side faces one direction, the other side faces the other direction. Not ideal, but not that big of a deal.

Would look sweet in black/gold with original Fox or gold anodized aluminum aftermarket wheels in a John Player Special type theme also.

I might start watching for one of these! Thanks for sharing.
