Putting a Losi hydra dive on stealth tranny?

Post by Showcase1186 »

What is required to put a hydra drive unit on a stealth tranny? Any special components? Also what fluid can be used in the hyrda drive unit?
Thanx for any help!

Losi Hydradrive top shaft for the stealth transmission is all thats needed other than the hydradrive unit Itself- they came with fluid, I believe they had thin, medium and thick.
But I'm pretty sure it was just silicone fluid

Thanx for the reply
Regarding the top shaft, was the shaft from the stock stealth, or from the Losi tranny?
As far as the oil, perhaps a 30wt shock oil?

it's very thick, like 1000w or something. There is documentation here on the site somewhere, you will have to search on it.

Thanx for the pointers. I'll keep searching. I bought a brand new xx when they came out, but I can't seem to recall what the fluid was like.

I have one mounted on my RC10T2...When rebuilding it...I used 10000wt Diff fluid. Seemed to be just about right compared to what was it it...

Yes, you do need a hydradrive topshaft as well as the hydradrive unit and spur

rpm, suzuki, and couple of other companies had the shafts. you could still get them from ebay.

do a search, they're a lot of threads on rebuilding and mounting the hydra drive on a stealth. if you need the instructions on breaking it down and rebuilding, drop me a PM and i'll send you a copy.

gonna ask the dumb question...since a lot of use use hydra shafts (JRX series) and run dual slipper set ups, wouldnt a B4 top shaft work for a hydra?

If I remember correctly there is a spacing issue with the B4 shaft-

I can't find the thread anymore but I wrote it down somewhere else so here's what was talked on this very forum a bit earlier: someone said that Losi Junior once said that hydra fluid is 5K to 10K silicon oil. I also found a couple of articles on race schumacher cars that had the viscodrive on (Schumacher's version of the visco-coupler) and it appears they were using silicon oil in there too.

I run 10K silicon oil (mugen diff fluid) in my runner LXT hydra and it works very well :)
