Somehow, I managed to purchase another "Gold Pan".
This one has a stealth transmission, all radio gear (speedo, receiver, tranmistter and servo), some NiMH and a strange plastic bodyshell.....
It seems I have caught the RC10 addiction!

It all begins with "starter" used parts. Then you're sourcing only NIP parts. Then when you start to get really hungry and things get heavy and you're buying more cars to feed the addiction. When it starts getting out of control, you only buy new vintage cars because the addiction needs to be fed. You move from eBay and craigslist to whatever auction site or car forum you can to find unique cars and BNIB kits. Before you know it your scouring flea markets, garage and estate sales. You camp out overnight to make sure you the first in the door. Low balling is thrown out the window because you MUST have that car!
BTW, I think that's a protech body.

Jon, yes, it looks like a protech body, but it's not made of lexan.....

It came with these bits too (A couple of bodies a wing and spur gear cover):

Sure that body isn't just painted on both the inside and outside? The imprints of the body pins and the dimples in the surface make me think it is.

If it's clear lexan under the paint, it's most likely an original Protech body
However
It's possible that someone made a mold of an original Protech body and vacuum formed an ABS body
That's what I wanted to do
Until I discovered that Tower had Protech body's in stock

I've added another car to the collection, it's a bit tired, but should clean up quite well with a little tlc, my first blackpan car!
It has a right old mixture of turnbuckles: associated, kyosho and yokomo!
I am intending on running one or more of these at some point soon....

I've managed to pick up another car for the collection on eBay, it's certainly unusual for the uk
With body:
Without body:
Is this quite rare or are there loads of these about?

Nice find! The rpm car, very nice. I wouldn't say they are very rare. But, I wouldn't say they are common either. A lot of those were dyed all sorts of fun colors. Thanks for sharing!

I guess I have a more strict definition of "very" rare. When I hear very I think cable drives, stealth cars, and personal vehicles from pros. No worries on knocking me. I'm much newer to this than you
with that said, maybe I should try to buy a NIP one I know of on an unnamed site
the wife is gonna shake her head on this one lol

Thanks for the feedback. It needs a bit of a cleanup, a new body and will then become a shelf queen.
It came with some spare hard coated short front associated shocks (the current front shocks are not associated shocks- the seller said they were Losi shocks) and a nice LRP brushed motor.
