hotdog parts interchange

Post by tudor39 »

I don't have any pics right now but I have a yokomo hotdog (4?) that I took some parts off of several years (14/15 to be exact) ago and I Think I have long since lost a few items. I think I am missing some of the front diff parts and didn't know what if any other models would interchange with it. I think somewhere I read that the yr4 on road chassis was the basis for it and that it was considered a toy compared to the other buggies that were available at that time. Maybe its not even worth bothering with but it seems to be somewhat rare from my other internet searches. Thanks, Peter

the yokomo hot dog should have most of it's parts interchange with the 870c/yz10, the first 'yz10' that was available in the US. Someone here did a new build with pictures, I think, should be easy enough to find in a search here.

it was basically a short wheelbase/stick battery pack yz10 that was a little more 'low end' than the racing cars.

Suspension arms are Works 91/93

Bulkheads are black nylon YR 4, the front has a cut out to allow a bumper to fit between it and the chassis.

Rear hubs, front uprights and knuckles are the same for all versions of YR4/Works 91/93/YZ10 94.

Chassis and upper deck are 1st generation YR4

Front belt YR4

Rear Belt are the same for most versions of YR4/Works 91/93/YZ10 94 and 870c

Front and rear shock mounts are 1st gen YR4 as are are the shock bodies

front and rear diffs are the same for all versions of the 1st genYR4/Works 91/93/870c, I believe later YR4 diffs changed to the later YZ10 type at some point.

Centre shaft, front pulley and spur are the same as 1st gen YR4 and 1994 YZ10. Later YR4/YZ10 setups and earlier 870c works 91 will fit, as will the TCS

Battery holder and front belt tensioner are 1st gen YR4

Steering bellcranks are the same for all variants of YR4 and from the 870c up to the YZ10 1995 WCS

Balljoints/Cups etc are all interchangeable.

Thank you so much for that wealth of information! That should help me to find replacement parts for the thing as I mentioned that I lost a few.
