Scr8p's Ol' School Blackfoot Build
now i have wanted to get a blackfoot for many many years............ mainly since childhood. just never did. well, a few months back jeff (civilguy) and i worked out a deal for blackfoot project that he was planning on selling. i promised myself i wouldn't mess with it until i had my hobby room finished. it's been done for a little while now, so i think the teardown and rebuild of my first blackfoot will begin shortly.
as you can see in the pics, the truck is in very nice shape. better than i thought it would be when i first opened the box. it's also loaded with some nice vintage hop-ups. the complete thorp diff for one, but also a complete set of of sees direction wheels (that need to be polished), and the crp and jg bits 'n pieces. well, on to the pics.......

Looks like fun. I have never had one of those either, maybe some day. I think I have more unfinished projects than you do. Are you planning a stock restore or resto-mod.

Re: Scr8p's Ol' School Blackfoot Build
it's pretty much gonna be cleaned up and put back together the way it is. i'm not to worried about having one all orginal, i like the period hop-ups/aftermarket goodies. it'll be outfitted with period electronics when the time comes too.
i really do want to run this when i'm done with it. i know i say that a lot about things i build and it never happens. but i do want to drive this one.

That will be cool. I like them when they are modified with period correct trick parts. Looking forward to the progress, however long it takes.

Nice score! I like it and the body is in really good shape. Do you have a bottom shot of the rear case? I have never seen that brace/skid plate before and the dog bones look better than the old units. The front bumper looks pretty stout too.

CRP skid plate (dyed): http://www.rcchopshop.com/crp/3045.html
I'm pretty sure the diff, outdrives, shafts are all Thorp/Dirt Burners parts.
Edit: pretty sure front bumper is JG Manufacturing.

Looks like a great project. You have all the right aftermarket parts there to make a really good solid runner. And yes, the bumper and shock tower are from JG. You should install the JG rear shock towers as well; they move the shocks into a better angle and are much stronger than a stock setup.

I'm definitely a member of that club as well. It's the only r/c in my top 10 favorites all time that I've never even driven. My cousins had one, but I don't think I ever actually took the wheel of it. No idea why since we always drove each others cars. I think they just had it briefly. I remember it shredding with a Le Mans 240ST. I need to get my greasy mitts on one. Congratulations!scr8p wrote:now i have wanted to get a blackfoot for many many years............ mainly since childhood. just never did.

If taking it back in the house after taking pics counts as progress, then yes, I've made some progress.
