Jrx2 Question/Help

Post by WriteDean »

Hi Everyone,
I'm restoring a JRX2 and have a few questions.

The ORIGINAL motor plate - Was it blank or was in engraved JRX2?

The ORIGINAL rear tires - I have 2 different sets. One has writing on just one side. The other has writing on both sides. What tires are the true originals?

Anything else I should know?

Thanks :D

early motor plate was blank, not sure about the rear tires - pairs I have seen had writing on both sides (?), fronts just on the outside.

The original tires only had writing on one side and had the round side wall. The later versions of the tires (including the "kit" compound) had the extra ridge on the side...flat side wall.

Original x2 had the aluminum outdrive spacers (between trans bearing and the outdrive yoke). Later versions were dark gray and then black. The original rear shock tower did not have the 3 large holes...it was solid with the exceptions of the screw holes. Wheels were light orange and very brittle. Later versions (released same time as red and yellow) were a darker orange. The light orange cracked in the inner bearing support because of the type io grease used in the bearings. Oringinal x2 front buklhead said jrx2 and had a lip at the front. Later versions were molded without the lip.

Good luck on the restoration.

Regards,

What about battery holders... how long did they make it before the 2 piece came out?

If I remember correctly, the new battery box came out after the proformance kit but before the jrx pro. I'm not sure if losi ever put the new box with the x2 kit. I guess it's possible but it would have been some of the much later releases.
