You know Rod, before I moved to Montreal to live there for 4 years, from about 2002 to 2006, the only real issue I had with Alberta drivers (Edmonton, anyway) was they were TOO laid-back. Now it's been 6+ years since my return, the economy is booming, people are immigrating here like nobody's business (and I don't just mean from other countries; I also mean from Eastern Canadian provinces)...and the sh!tty drivers have increased
exponentially.
I used to almost NEVER get cut off with barely a car-length between our cars...now, I can get cut off 2 or 3 times in just my commute home! And the number of asswipes who want to cut in front of a row of traffic trying to exit an off-ramp, cutting across 3 lanes of traffic, road-rage idiots who want to ride right up my bumper on the highway, acting all pissed off, even though there's a line of cars directly in front of me and
nowhere for me to go even if I wanted to...I've honestly never seen such a change for the worse in traffic in such a short period of time!
You're not the only one who has noticed an increase in...shall we be PC and say..."non-native Albertans"...bad drivers here, and the majority of driving instructors I see are similarly "non-native Albertans", which means sh!tty drivers are teaching people to drive sh!tty...but I also still see a helluva lot of "native Albertan" morons texting, yakking on their cellphones while driving, etc.
The drivers here are getting bad enough *without* all the people moving to Alberta because of our bustling economy, bringing their bad driving habits with them, but the latter sure isn't helping any.
