NEW Signiture test...1....2.....1....2....
Was sitting out in the shop watching a wheel spin, and had a flash of inspiration, had the idea for the spinning wheel signature below. Original thought was to make it my avatar, but there's an 8k limit on avatar files and this one came in at about 80k. Oh well, I think I like it in the sig better anyway. Also took some shots of a few of my favorite cars as well...
Hope you like it... Please no stealing my wheel lololol...

a little too much in my opinion.
wouldnt mind know what software you made that gif with though.
keep the gif but make it a little smaller, add a link to your gallery of car pics instead of the picture.

Way too big. The only rediculously large sig we let fly is erich's, promoting the vintage nats. Thats mainly because he doesn't post all that much, so no one has to scroll past it 10 times on 1 page.

On my PC it all displays in the height of the wheel pic. On my phone and other devices, it wraps so I see what you mean. Guess I'll lose the car pics and just keep the wheel....

So what I did was capture about 10 seconds of spinning wheel video, holding the camera super steady.DMAT wrote:a little too much in my opinion.

I first tried to loop an entire revolution of the wheel, but after about 11 attempts I could not get it to look smooth.
What I ended up doing is just looping a very short section, basically 'one spoke' worth of rotation (1/7th of a full revolution) which still gives the illusion of continuous rotation.
Recorded the video with my Droid Razr M, converted it to AVI with MP4camtoAVI, used virtual dub to cut out just the very short section I was going to loop, and then used the first free "video to gif" converter web site I found with a google search.

OK so I have been staring at the hypnotizing wheel for a few minutes, and I just noticed something, no idea how it happened.
Keep your eye focused either on a black bolt head, or the end of one of the gold spokes. You will notice that the spokes appear to walk inside the silver outer rim, rotating slightly faster than the bolts. Maybe it's just my browser, anyone else see the same thing???

thanks for the heads up on what you used. I'm gonna be looking for something else then. I'm making an animation frame by frame and trying to animate it so others can see what im seeing in my mind...
just the wheel is nice though.
lawl....after staring at it for a minute, the spokes turn faster than the rest of the wheel.

Re: NEW Signiture test...1....2.....1....2....
okay so I figured out why it looks like the inside of the wheel is spinning faster. Like I said this is just 1/7 of a revolution Looped over and over again to make it look like the wheel is spinning, and since there are 8 bolts & 7 spokes, if you follow the bolt around the wheel you're actually viewing the entire wheelsection by section, and looking at seven different spokes or eight different bolts on your way around. and if you look at the wheel standing still you'll see the spokes do creep on the bolt heads. Having a really hard time explaining it, but if you think about it you'll realize what's happening.

You are getting sleepy, sleepy, sleepy - you will send all vintage RC parts to me. when you wake, you will not remember owning any Associated items and think Traxxas is the cat's ass of RC.

Re: NEW Signiture test...1....2.....1....2....
yes, it's easy to see why the spokes progress past the bolts. 7 spokes, 8 bolts, so there is different spacing between them, and you captured a section of the video and keeps looping. it's an excellent unintended effect!!!
