M-05s are fun little cars. Especially cool when you run in races with M-01/03/05s. The zip around like little go karts.

Trying to think of what to look at but nothing major comes to mind.
I miss brushed motors in that hazy, everything seemed better when I was a kid, kind of way.

Frewer made an EG Civic hatch and an Integra:

And I think HPI made an Integra and EG or EK hatch.

M05 was available as a CRX... http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/58503mugen_crx/index.htm

HPI made an EK9 Civic... http://www.hpiracing.com/en/part/7216

Hope those help...

Ugh, all Tamiya plastic bushings? Or just beat up bearings?

Stock M05 doesn;t come with any bearings, just plastics and some bronze bushes.....

When you do the bearings, don't forget to do the steering bushings....

Yeah, what M5 said......

Going from the manual, there's six for the gearbox (2 x 1150 in holders in the chassis, and 1 x 1150 and 1 x 850 in each of the spur and counter gears), four in the steering (4 x 850), and eight bearings in the front and rear hubs (8 x 1150).

So, you're looking at a total of 12 x 1150 and 6 x 850 bearings. That's your 18 piece kit right there.... I would imagine the 14 piece kit does not include the steering. Not sure what the 16 piece would be!

Possibly..... other thought I had was all the bearings except for the chassis side bearings that the front axles ride on. Seems a bit weird to provide an opening for a bearing, then change the size of it with a spacer..... must be some sort of option part that fits in place.
