Bolink Digger Pro Touring 53 Ford F100

Post by Seabass »

Hey guys had a couple hours to myself today made the modifications needed to turn my Bolink Digger into a respectable rc car (well as much as one could respect a Bolink Digger).

I took a page from GomachV's book and did some customs work to mount a set of aluminum pan car wheels I machined to the chassis. First up the wheels were way to wide for what I was looking for, so I chucked the wheels into the lathe and narrowed them considerably. The rear wheels ended up being the width of a standard 1/10 pan car wheel. The fronts also needed to be narrowed as well. Stuck some new foams on the wheels and trued them up to fit the wheels.

I machined new body posts from 1/4 black delrin rod and mounted them to the chassis.

The body is drying while I post this, but I figured I would give some off body shots of what I have done thus far. It is going to be a pretty cool car in the end and should look pretty good with the body mounted.

Thanks, got the idea from you.

Finished the body and screwed it up with what I thought was a mild solvent to remove the sharpie marking on the shell. The body did not have a protective film so I had to mark up the outside of the body to assist in masking. I am not the best painter but this is probably one of the worst paint jobs I have ended up with.

The build was quick and ended up being pretty cool. Wasn't a ton of work involved but I sure wish the body would have turned out better.

Now that this one is done, time to do something with it...

Yes that would have been nice. I wish I would have thought about that while painting...

The body was super tough to mask especially in the rear but the bed. Ton of really tight areas that were difficult to get into.

I just looked for my novus polish to fix the body but it must have been lost during the move to MS, oh well. It is listed to go to a new home so maybe the new owner can fix it or just buy another body to fit the chassis.

Really cool idea, I saw it on eBay a few days ago. The only thing I'd nitpick would be the wheelbase looks a little too short for that body but it could be just an illusion.
