Radio mounted stopwatch
Has anybody mounted a stopwatch to their radio to time their laps? Or I know most phones have pretty good stopwatches with a lap feature, where every lap you press a button and saves that time and automatically starts timing from zero. I'm looking for a way to get some practice lap times without asking my buddy to time it for me.

Re: Radio mounted stopwatch
You need a new radio, my old Futaba 1024 stick from 92-93 has that function built in.

Re: Radio mounted stopwatch
As stated above most radios have one built in. However, you could probably buy a cheap one and mount it to the handle of your radio where maybe you could activate it with your thumb. No pun intended... 3M makes some great products that hold strong and come off clean for mounting. Or you could just go ghetto and use electrical tape.

Really? I've never heard of that! I just bought a used Spectrum DX2s, so when it gets here I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip.

Re: Radio mounted stopwatch
do like traxxas does and just put a phone mount on the bottom of the remote and have your phone sit there.

Re: Radio mounted stopwatch
to be clear... if you're serious about racing, you can't time yourself even if the timer switches are strategically located. Every time I've tried, I lose focus when it's time to press the little button, and hence tenths pass by. I dunno if you guys can do it, I can't, even more obvious in onroad where there is ONE fast line, and if you deviate a foot from it, you just lost time.

I agree. Unfortunately for me, my concentration is so terrible that I don't need a stopwatch to be a distraction for me. 2 minutes or so into a race my mind has already wandered to water conservation, or how fun it is to roast pumpkin seeds...Lonestar wrote:to be clear... if you're serious about racing, you can't time yourself even if the timer switches are strategically located. Re: Radio mounted stopwatch
just an odd thought, why not try it a different way. maybe something with a foot switch so you dont have to take your hands off the controls.
also, search for an app called VoiceWATCH. Its a voice activated lap counter. can use with your phone.

That way everyone watching can give you crazy looks and ask the guy next to them "Who the F*** is he talking to??".DMAT wrote:also, search for an app called VoiceWATCH. Its a voice activated lap counter. can use with your phone.

Re: Radio mounted stopwatch
I have a DX2s and there is a timer you can set to count up or count down from a pre-programmed point, operated by a button right under your thumb behind your trigger finger. The easiest way to use it is to set it at say 6 or 7 or 8 minutes (or whatever your track's races tend to time to), and then count your laps yourself in your head (to yourselfnicholasdivitto wrote:Really? I think that is a much better idea.Y'ernat Al wrote:I have a DX2s and there is a timer you can set to count up or count down from a pre-programmed point, operated by a button right under your thumb behind your trigger finger.
