what did I buy? and to finish??

Post by stulec52 »

I think it's a ZX-r
but I`m only basing that really on the body.

I got it for a good price, and it looks pretty decent for what is there.
So, I would like to restore it or at very least get it on all 4s !
Anyone think the know for sure what it is, and what I would need to finish it off ??
Thanks
Stu

Yes its a ZXR. You need a front gearbox, outer arm brace, another arm, front hingepins, , front shocktower and front shocks, oohh and OT-93 bumper.

Looks like it took one of those front impacts that breaks the front gearbox and the holders for the front hinge pins. Check the diff for damage.

So also c-hubs, front uprights, new universal, hex, and the rest of the bits. Also missing servo mounts and rear wing and wheels/tires.

It's also coming with some parts, so might not need as much as it appears?

Looks like u have the missing arm and c hub. Still need bumper , front tower and hingepins.
That bumpet you have is a tamiya ta02 bumper.

You also have the front half of the front gearbox in there. The bag with the red and white header card looks like a set of arms for a TF-4 touring car.

Those pictures were from the seller.
Should arrive this week.
I've got a couple of LA parts here myself, but I think I'll need front shocks at the very least.
I'm thinking it'll be a straightforward project though.
Now, TBG Body and MCI decals?
Or just clean up what I get??

Those make great fun runners. I dont know how they hold up in modern racing though. For zipping up and down the street, and for taking on camping trips they are very tough and require little maintenance,, so if its getting built with used parts,,, then I vote new body and run it! Pretty sure I need just a very few more parts for a lazer mega build,, but thats in limbo right now.

All stripped down, and some parts incoming :)

Question though, I was looking to get a new top deck as mine is the 2 piece, and I want to change to a single piece one to stiffen the car up.
So, I was looking at Fibrecraft, but do I 'need' to go carbon? or is the CSC stuff plenty good ??

thanks
