How do I fix this?

Yeah, mine was the same way, I just found some bearings laying around, but I did put a drop of shock oil on the bushings to help before installing the bearings and it did help a little

I don't wanna sound like a moron, but how do you know which side that is?? Is it the side with the thrust spring and the the locking t-nut or the opposite end with the diff cover??

Thanks

Edit: ah yes, the head of the diff thrust bolt....i guess I figured it out,I hope.....Thanks.

The side that has the bolt head (the side you adjust it from) goes on the same side as the spur gear.

I ran the worlds tranny in my drill press at 3200 rpm with toothpaste and no diff. It sounded like gravel. That's as far as I've gotten.

well my worlds kit has some 90's era parts in it now  ....found 4 flanged bearings for the bell cranks...now my steering is smooth. why wouldn't associated just put bearing in the bell cranks over bushings? kinda stupid. I mean its not like im going for spot on 100% accurate worlds car here.
do you think its a bad twilight zone episode for team associated to be re producing a buggy from yesteryear that is capable of beating their latest and greatest production buggy?

Picked up my Worlds Car kit today from my LHS, no oil spillage 8) , and measured my top shaft from the gear to the flat = 13.62mm or 0.536 in.

Now, does this mean its good or bad??

I'm keen to know this too as our cars likely came from the same batch :D

Same here... I got some brand new front 3 piece florescent yellow wheels coming today and I had some white vintage steering arms and axles in my parts box for the wheels to fit them. I will also put the front body post on the right steering arm screw like the original Worlds kit car was.

I also got some older electronics to go in for a vintage look as well.

I will do the body my own styled version of the Worlds car instead of a box art replica to break it up a bit.

Quite simply, cost and being a little more true to the original. Those 1/4"x 3/8" flanged bearings are certainly not the cheapest of the bearings to include.

Well my new top shaft came in from AE and so did my bearings for the steering from oldrc.com.. Going to be rebuilding my tranny and installing the bearings.. FYI oldrc.com has the bearings(stb897) for $2.99 for a pair.. Will post my results..

Here is my WC, it has some vintage 3 pc. wheels, steering arms, spindles, green springs, vintage WC instruction mounted front body mount, and vintage electronics. I have to get a motor for it still and do up the body.
