Thinking of running slot cars instead
Re: Thinking of running slot cars instead
Holy sheet! That is the fastest thing I have ever seen. How the hell do you control them? Surely they are just flat out everywhere? Madness!
Personally I'd prefer something about ten times slower so I could see them!

That is why I like racing T-Jets and AFX cars! Hang the back end out around every turn and you can see what's going on!

Same here, the AFX series are my fav, I have tons of em.
I probably have 300 feet of track, if not more. The mods we made when I was a kid are awesome.
I look back now and laugh at what I did to make them run faster, some make sense (1%) hahah!!

Re: Thinking of running slot cars instead
if you run group 10 (1/24 production back in my day.... stock 16d motors), at my home track, laps were in the 5.3-5.5 second range. that was in sharp contrast to the 2 second laps of the group 7.
the cars are slower, heavier, and don't use the tall side dams to aid in handling. they give you the "back end hanging out" feel.

at my old track, you would probably be in the low to mid 4 second range. i'm sure even quicker with some of today's motors.

Re: Thinking of running slot cars instead
Somewhere around 4 seconds is still quick at a reasonable price. The cars are half as expensive. There doesn't seem to be much price wise between group 27 and group 7 open, both are $500+
If I bought a group 27 or 7 open I'd probably wreck it and destroy it. Although wing cars need speed to keep them on the track I doubt they are flat out on the outside/inside lanes. Even if you have only 4 hairpins to slow down for thats 2 every second. Watching Paul "Beauf" Pederson qualify for the 2011 worlds is insane, it appears he squeezes the trigger and never lifts.
