Re: #6002 - RC10 Worlds Car Kit
Hey, I know its prolly been asked and answered but I have a lazy disease that prevents me from looking through this thread...What are the tires on the box art Worlds Car (re-re)? Thanks!
I'd take a knife for some really good nachos.

Re: #6002 - RC10 Worlds Car Kit
Worlds Car Race Roller
Got the car today and tore into it. First off, the body does come shrink wrapped to the box, but the whole thing is then put in another box. Mine was stuffed with Chinese newspapers. The body and box were in perfect shape.

I started working on the car and have a few observations about the assembly. First off, the shock caps were put on way too tight. So tight that even using the tool they supply to hold the shock body, it would slip. I had to grab a rag and some pliers to hold the shock body while I used a hex driver to twist the caps off. The shocks are smooth and didn't have any air in them.
The most egregious thing I found was the diff. It was crazy tight and IT DIDN'T HAVE ANY LUBE IN IT. Like open up the diff and all the balls fell out of their holes. The only place there was lube was on the the side of the rings that goes against the outdrives. I added lube and put it back together. Nice and smooth now (though I still need to break it in).
There is a slight bit of a rough spot when spinning the transmission. I added some shock oil to the gears and it helped some. I'm hoping it will run in after I run it a bit.

Lastly, the steering is very smooth. Even with the stock bushings. I do have the JConcepts steering available to swap in, but for now I'll keep the stock steering. The rest of the car seems to be well built.

Re: #6002 - RC10 Worlds Car Kit
Thanks for the feedback on the race roller. I take it you changed to brown/black springs and white wheels as well?
Can you tell what changes, if any, were made to correct the common issues like:
If they tapped the plastic nuts for the steering?
How much clearance was there between the back of the slipper and the motor plate?
Where do the dogbones fit in the outdrives? Right at the edge/pop-out-ready like mine?
Does loosening the transmission case screws cause the rough spot to go away? Both of mine were like this.

Yes, I've changed the springs and oil. I had a set of white wheels with JConcepts Dirt Webs from my B3 so I'm using them on this car.

I can't tell if they tapped the nuts because I haven't taken it apart. I can say that the steering is very smooth and free.

Eyeballing it, I'd say a couple of MM.
Where do the dogbones fit in the outdrives? Right at the edge/pop-out-ready like mine?
They are in the outer half of the outdrives, but not close enough to pop out. The down travel of the shocks is just right.

There was a very slight rough spot. Since I had to take the transmission apart to build the diff properly, I put the screws back in as I usually do (barely tight). It seems to be fine.
I only have one race night on the car and even with the oil being too thin (I had 30F/27.5R) the car drove very well. I've since changed the oil to 40F/35R, added a RC Carbon Works rear shock tower to run B4 wings and changed the gearing from 20/81 to 19/78.

Re: #6002 - RC10 Worlds Car Kit
haha,yeah,almost!
Thanks guys!
I got a better spur/pinion mesh using an old style slipper with an old shaft, part 6571 I think?
The new slipper was too close to the motor plate, it didn`t rub the motor plate, but with a brushed motor the mesh wasn`t good.
I can`t say the transmission is very smooth, but after a light 'break-in', it should be better.

Re: #6002 - RC10 Worlds Car Kit

Re: #6002 - RC10 Worlds Car Kit
is this the #6002RR limited edition or the 6002? is it from Amain? if I get another one from Amain/Tower, will it come pre assembled and body wrapped outside the box?
I did see this on their site:
Due to the larger size of the built vehicle, the body for the RC10WC Racer Roller will ship shrink wrapped to the original box.
just confirming.
thnks.
