My favorite combo so far is the Hobbywing EZRun 60A ESC and Tacon 3650 sized motors. The whole combo cost me right around $70 from hobbypartz and it's been fantastic in my Dad's Ruckus. It's fast, it has tons of torque, and it runs cool. Low speed control is fantastic too. I can't get the motor to cog.

I believe that's the same motor I'm using with my Barney Optima; 3200 kV, 11T.

I run the 3500kv motor. In my dad's Ruckus, I kept the stock brushed 20t gearing, and dropped it in. The result is that the truck is faster than my stock Stampede 4x4, and it runs substantially cooler. It also exhibits absolutely no cogging, as I mentioned before. My Stampede cogs like it's a design feature.
