Re: Ten4: the 4WD RC10 project
While MIP kept giving us the false hope, we decided to make one that should handle modern power and not break the bank. Now if Brian would hurry up and finalize those plastics
What we really need is a friend at shapeways that can bump us ahead in the waiting line. Killer company but the wait sucks!

They printed and shipped my latest batch in a week. That's pretty damn good i think! Hopefully they can keep that pace up.

Just curious guys, what size hole are you drilling into the side of the gear box to fit the robinson shaft/pulley hardware? I was also curious how you made the pulley fit onto the shaft in relation to the gear box?

Re: Ten4: the 4WD RC10 project
The hole is a weird size (19/64!), but you can get there with a 9/32 drill bit and an exacto knife to open it ever so slightly more. As long as you leave a little lip to retain the bearing it is fine. I put a bearing in the hole, and run a 3/16 bit thru. That gives you a good center. Then drill to 9/32
As far as the pulley to the shaft not sure the question? It has a flat spot, just slide the pulley spacer and pulley on all the way and tighten to the shaft

Thanks, I wasn't sure if the pulley "flange" went into the gear box or not. I see that larger hole allows for you to push the pulley completely on to the shaft. I was curious if you guys had ever finalized the details about the belt?

No
I can tell you we are currently on the 199t 3mm pitch 6mm wide belt, and it's a part number 5973M6. You can find them on amazon for under $4. That said, it may not be the belt we end up with!

Re: Ten4: the 4WD RC10 project
The belt length is pretty unlikely to change at this point, but i really want to put some laps on the car before finalizing anything. I doubt the belt will stretch, but just in case i want to run a couple packs throuh it before people start buying the 199 tooth belt.

Re: Ten4: the 4WD RC10 project
I've always like these wheels on the short arm 4wd RC10. If I were to do a short arm/short wheelbase (SASW, lol) Ten4 I'd get some, especially if it were for show, then even 4 aluminum jellybean wheels to boot. And you got to find I chain Jeff, that would add to the cool factor... just sayinromulus22 wrote:Love the look of that car but I think it would "look" better with some vintage rubber.

Chain and sprockets are ordered
I agree with the wheels but it's what I had I'll have to see if I can get a 1/4" cva up front, might be cool
