Rear Outer Hinge Pins for RPM A-Arms

Post by PerryCodes »

I'm knee deep in a vintage black tub nitro rebuild project and I have arrived at a problem. The RPM A-Arms I'm using seem to be based on the very earliest a-arms for RC10GT. That means the front are the type that require 6471 and the increasingly rare 7420. The rear a-arms do not have room for a spacer used to adjust the wheelbase. That means the rear outer hinge pin 6381 is too long! I was originally excited to find an earlier rear outer hinge pin 7357... I ordered two thinking it was going to be the correct size. Nope. They are both the exact same thing. Called AE to see if they knew of a hinge pin that would fit. They went old-school on me and rather than looking for a hinge pin that fits, recommended using o-rings to fill the extra space.

So... that brings me to the million-dollar question... IS there an outer hinge pin that's a perfect fit for the RC10GT Rear A-Arm?

Thanks ~ Jason

I'm not in a good place to dig for part numbers right now but if you are stuck call Lunsford. Kelly will have the ones you need or a full set.

Hi,

Have you tried ASC 6227 which is a rc10/T front outer on the rear?

It might be close!

Thanks for that suggestions! I will most likely go the Lunsford route.

On a related note, does anyone have a URL for a recommended tool that can be used to accurately ream a-arms for 1/8" diameter hinge pins?

I got mine from McMaster Carr. I went .127 and if I did it again I would go a little tighter
Sorry I don't have the number
