Team Associated B6.1 / B6.1D
I am sure most folks have seen the news a couple days ago, but for those who haven't an updated version of the B6/B6D has been announced:

I am most interested in the new rear arms and 'lay back' transmission options, hopeful both will increase rear grip

Re: Team Associated B6.1 / B6.1D
Yup that's my next ride for the winter 18/19 indoor racing season - for now I'm still struggling with my OIN1M, but I can't justify the expense, so so be it
bitd the product cycle was longer because it too so much work to get a kit built and running properly... today every car is competitive right out of the box, so every little difference in design counts to have that edge on the track.
Still, the B6 was released in spring 2016, so we are in acceptable territory here (2 years from kit to kit).

it will be interesting to see how the 6.1 will work compared to the 6
with a shorter wheelbase and a more rearward motor position
personally I've never been really comfortable with shortening the wheel base on the B6.

Re: Team Associated B6.1 / B6.1D
I'm undecided on the wheelbase change, but overall, I like the changes. There isn't a whole lot unique on the 2wd buggy market anymore, so I wasn't expecting huge changes. The new trans should be a good option for medium traction dirt/clay, the diff access is handy, the waterfall/turnbuckle brace option is nice, easier spur gear access would be appreciated too. The aluminum D block saves a couple modding bucks, and the spur gear guard makes body attachment a little less critical. And of course, this is released exactly 1 race day into me owning a b6. lol

I'm curious to see how they compare on high traction turf to the B6. We are already adding weight to the nose of the b6 to get enough steering bite. Shortening the chassis might help with this but moving the weight of the motor rearward seems counter productive for high grip surfaces. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

The b6.1 keeps a laydown, and the b6.1d has a layback, basically a lower CG version of the standup transmission, if I understand it correctly.Basher67 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2018 7:07 pm I'm curious to see how they compare on high traction turf to the B6.
