Old Novak receiver

Post by radioactivity »

I thought I might try to re-create the original label but can't seem to find any images.
I'd also like to see if it still functions.
This was my first receiver from my RC10.
Any help would be appreciated!

Chuck

Unless that photo is scrunched, it appears to be one of their early aircraft receivers. I don’t think they had labels

They call the NER-2S their first cat/boat receiver. Weird that yours is clearly a 2 channel. Hmm

I have one of these receivers also. I've always called it a NER-2, but never seen any documentation. It's the same size as the old aircraft receivers (bottom half of the case is interchangeable), but it's a purpose built 2 channel.

I also believe that was an aircraft receiver. There were plenty of 2 channel aircraft radios---mostly used in gliders. As far as I remember, and the Novak timeline would verify, the NER-2S was the first land frequency receiver and the design and shape stayed pretty much the same. Even the bigger 3 channel car receivers were still a small square. It was not uncommon for most of us, on little to no budget bitd, to "illegally" re purpose whatever radio we had laying around-----including aircraft radios. I remember using my futaba attack 4 system in my lunchbox. Not allowed at the track, but the radio police never showed up to bust me in my back yard. The frequency of the receiver should give you the answer.

Thanks for all the replies.
Phin I think you nailed it. Mystery solved.
I honestly searched for quite a while and could not find it
It appears as the "2 channel receiver" is the match. The price list also shows a ner 2 (no 'S) . That must be the part's name.
So BradS you were also correct.
All my crystals are 27 mhz for my ner 2s and the ner 2 so that also fits the picture.
I guess I won't be recreating a label when one never existed. It's back in the box it was in for now.

Thanks again to all Chuck

Just found this topic.
Great receivers Alan. I knew there was a Kraft like this but never have seen one before. :)
For the Novak 2 channel I was searching such receiver for a repro project. But never found one so the project was not started.
